Midnight Rendezvous: Expanded Edition

• Soulmusic Records is proud to present the worldwide CD debut of "Midnight Rendezvous”, the only album recorded by dance music favourite and U.S. ‘70s R&b chartmaker, the late Tasha Thomas (1950-1984).

• An expanded edition, this exciting reissue of Tasha’s recordings for Atlantic Records consists of two discs:– the 1st, the original 1979 album; and the 2nd, mixes & single edits; a bumper collection of close to 50 minutes of sizzling dance music with (5) versions of Tasha’s pop/R&B classic, ‘Shoot Me (With Your Love)” including the rare 12” instrumental single.

• Already established as an in demand New York-based jingle singer, Alaska-born Tasha gained a reputation as a prominent session vocalist in the early ‘70S, recording with artists such as Louis Armstrong, Roberta Flack, Esther Phillips, Bonnie Raitt, Grover Washington Jr. and Hubert Laws. She landed the role of ‘Aunt ‘Em’ in the original hit Broadway musical "The Wiz” in 1975, launching her solo recording career in earnest a year later.

• After teaming up with up-and-coming producers James R. Glaser and Peter Rugile, Tasha cut the provocatively-titled ‘Shoot Me (With Your Love)’; NY club DJs began playing it after its initial release on the producers’ Orbit label, Atlantic Records picked up the track which became an instant U.S. dance music fixture.

• This exciting 2-CD features stellar notes by renowned U.S. writer Justin Kantor including quotes from producer Rugile, and superb remastering by James Bragg.
