Description
• SoulMusic Records is proud to present NOW DO U WANTA DANCE, MY RADIO SURE SOUNDS GOOD TO ME and STAR WALK, three classic albums by pioneering funk super group Graham Central Station as a 2-CD set with single versions of the hits, “Is It Love?,” ‘(You’re A) Foxy Lady’ and ‘Star Walk.’
• Originally created by ground-breaking bassist, singer and songwriter Larry Graham in the wake of his departure from Sly & The Family Stone, Graham Central Station established themselves as first tier hit-makers and live performers with the release of their 1974 self-titled debut LP for Warner Brothers, following it with three best-selling albums – “Release Yourself,” Ain’t No Bout-A Doubt It” and “Mirror.”
• By the time GCS released NOW DO U WANTA DANCE in 1977, the aggregation was enjoying consistent success: the title track became a Top 10 R&B hit on an album that included distinctive versions of Al Green’s ‘Love And Happiness’ and Bobby Bland’s ‘Lead Me On.’
• 1978’s MY RADIO SURE SOUNDS GOOD TO ME (with production by jazz legend Benny Golson) continued the funky path that GCS had created, with the title track and the notable ballad single, ‘Is It Love?’
• 1979’s STAR WALK featured production work by Philadelphia soul men, producer Bobby Martin and arranger Ron Kersey and spawned the groove hit, ‘(You’re A) Foxy Lady.’
• This 2017 reissue includes extensive notes by Matt Bauer with quotes from quote from Larry Graham and group member Jerry Martini and great remastering by Donald Cleveland.
