Stewart developed  his own idiosyncratic ‘word-doubling’ vocal delivery, and was supported by  brassy arrangements combining the best elements of soul and big-band jazz.  Shout Records is delighted to re-issue this album for the first time on CD. Also included as bonus tracks are a collection of Billy’s Chess recordings from across the 1960s; once released by Chess in 1974 as a compilation called “Cross My Heart”. (Side note: Maurice White – of Earth Wind & Fire – is on drums). Cross My Heart features  Northern Soul favourites Crazy ‘Bout You Baby, I’m In Love and What Have I Done plus R&B chart hits Cross My Heart, Why (Do I Love You So) and Tell Me The Truth.
