Volume 3 in our successful ongoing series covering the recordings by Joe Tex released on singles for the Dial label. Each volume is chronologically sequenced and featuring the A-side and B-side of each 45, we now reach the years 1969-1972.

Chart wise Buying a Book was a top 10 R&B hit for Joe, and That’s The Way reached the top 50. The rasping funk of I Gotcha topped the R&B charts in 1971, also reaching # 2 on the Hot 100.

Many of the tracks on the compilation here are however real collectors items and present the best way for fans to add to their Joe Tex collections. In the packaging are all the session details.

Joe’s humour maintains in gems like It Ain’t Sanitary, You’re Right Ray Charles and Bad Feet, contrasting with the Southern Soul of Papa s Dream and vibrant balladry of I‘ll Never Fall In Love Again to display
