Bobby Orlando is a highly prolific music producer, songwriter, musician, and record label impresario. During the 80’s he produced, composed and performed on hundreds of music productions that he released under a myriad of record labels, including: “O” Records, Bobcat Records, Memo Records and others. He is one of the founding fathers of Hi-NRG dance music.
As a solo artist, Orlando scored hits with ‘She Has a Way’,
and ‘I’m So Hot for You’. He also produced the early hit singles for numerous artists. “O” RECORDS CLASSICS VOLUME ONE: PASSION collects the most celebrated hits of Orlando’s career, and offers some of the most important and influential dance music of the 1980’s.
Divine was undoubtedly the most notorious artist to be part of the “O” Records catalogue. Her first two hits ‘Native Love’ and ‘Shoot Your Shot’ are included here. They were very important for Orlando as they became massive pop hits all over Europe and secured a loyal audience for his productions for years to come.
The Flirts were Bobby’s own girl group, with the line-up changing with each album release. They were the most consistently successful act in the stable, but their debut hit, ‘Passion’ was undoubtedly the most important of their career, becoming one of the ultimate Hi-NRG records of the 1980’s.
Pet Shop Boys based their initial musical direction on the Bobby “O” sound. After Neil Tennant interviewed him for Smash Hits in 1983, the duo began working with him on what would be their 1984 debut single, ‘West End Girls’. The original 12” version featured here became a massive dance hit in Europe, before the Boys re-recorded it in 1985 and went on to have one of the biggest pop hits of the eighties.
Cherry Pop is proud to present “O” RECORDS CLASSICS VOLUME ONE: PASSION which is an essential addition to the collection of all Eighties Pop and Dance fans.
