Originally released by Creole Records in 1978, “Roots, Rock Reggae” primarily served as a showcase vehicle for the most recent productions of Phil Mathias and his Big Phil label. Comprising 14 tracks of the highest quality, the album featured some of Jamaica’s leading talent, notably the In Crowd, Cornel Campbell, Sugar Minott, Delroy Wilson and Leroy Smart.
Unavailable on any format for almost half a century, “Top Of The Ladder” is finally available once more, with its dozen tracks bolstered by over 40 Clancy Eccles-produced sides from the early Seventies – including the original reggae version of ‘Kingston’ Town’ and many recordings new to CD!

Five years in the making, a revitalised King Prawn have recorded a modern British rock album that challenges and charms in equal measure. The band frame poignant lyrical commentary of modern humanity with more hooks than a copy of Fisherman’s Weekly
Mixed by renowned sound engineer, Errol Brown at Treasure Isle studio in Kingston, the albums that comprise this crucial collection have long since been widely regarded as being among the finest dub sets to see issue during the mid-to-late seventies.
Originally released in strictly limited numbers on Sonia Pottinger’s celebrated High Note label, at a time when dub was reaching its creative peak, ‘Dubb Everlasting’ and ‘Dub Expression’ feature the cream of Jamaica’s session players, including future Riddim Twins, Sly & Robbie.
With both albums on this essential celebration of dub unavailable in any format since their original release, long deprived fans can now at last enjoy some of the hardest and heaviest sounds ever to see issue, at a price that won’t burn a hole in their pockets.
