Description
This release of ˜I Remember Mama reclaims a relatively obscure and unrecorded work from the Rodgers Richard cannon.
I Remember Mama opened in 1979, already a successful book, film and TV series, but found itself out of fashion. An Original Cast recording was thus never made, and in 1985 Jay Records decided to re-unite George Hearn and George S Irving, two of the shows original stars with Sally Anne Howes and a host of other West End and Broadway names, for this highly anticipated and welcomed World Premiere recording.
Richard Charles Rodgers (June 28, 1902 “ December 30, 1979) was an American composer of more than 900 songs for 43 Broadway musicals. He is best known for his song writing partnerships with the Lorenz Hart and Oscar Hammerstein II. His compositions have had a significant impact on popular music to the present day, and have an enduring broad appeal. His ballets appear in ˜The King And I, ˜Oklahoma, ˜Carousel, ˜South Pacific and˜The Sound Of Music amongst others.
Rodgers is one of only two people to have ever won an Oscar, a Grammy, an Emmy, a Tony Award, and a Pulitzer Prize.
