The leader of The Glorious Ones troupe, Flaminio Scala, a real historical figure portrayed with wonderful panache and pathos by Marc Kudisch, reigned over them all for a short time. Many of our most beloved modern comic performers from Charlie Chaplin, Buster Keaton, Lucille Ball and Milton Berle to Jim Carey, Robin Williams and even The Simpsons are descended from the traditions of Renaissance commedia dellarte.
