National Album Day returns for its fourth edition on Saturday 16th October, and this year will spotlight women artists and their huge contribution to music and culture through the art of the album.
Revisiting iconic and influential albums by women artists, from the earliest pioneers to present-day legends, and pointing towards exciting new and future talent, the 2021 event will also highlight the integral role women play within the wider music community, not only as recording artists, but as songwriters, producers, and cultural influencers.
We have a couple of special releases planned for the day, including a 3CD/DVD edition of Debbie Gibson’s debut album Out Of The Blue, and Earth Kitt’s I’m Still Here / Live In London expanded to a deluxe 3CD set.

Signed to Atlantic Records at 16, Debbie became a teen sensation in 1987. Thanks to a string of international pop hits, the singer-songwriter rapidly became a household name around the globe.
Within the space of 12 months, Debbie had scored US Top Ten singles with ‘Only In My Dreams’ (US #4, UK #11), ‘Shake Your Love’ (US #4, UK #7), ‘Out Of The Blue’ (US #3, UK #19) and ‘Foolish Beat’ (US #1, UK #9), all taken from the ‘Out Of The Blue’ album, which would ultimately sell over five million copies worldwide, earning a Gold record in the UK.
After completing a sell-out tour of the USA, the singer enjoyed further chart success with her albums ‘Electric Youth’, ‘Anything Is Possible’ and ‘Body, Mind, Soul’ before joining the West End production of Grease, playing Sandy. Further albums and a successful film and TV career followed.
Her debut smash, ‘Out Of The Blue’, is released this autumn as a deluxe edition on Cherry Pop, encompassing 3 CDs and a DVD (Region 0 NTSC).
Eartha Kitt – I’m Still Here / Live In London 3CD: https://www.cherryred.co.uk/product/eartha-kitt-im-still-here-live-in-london-3cd-expanded-edition/
A comprehensive three disc set complete with a 28-page booklet richly illustrated by period photographs; reminiscences from the record producer Rod Gammons and live show director Nica Burns, as well as an introductory word from Eartha’s daughter Kitt Shapiro. Recorded at the height of her powers in 1989, ‘I’m Still Here’ was an engaging and inventive studio album combining electronic pop with her signature cabaret brilliance, this expanded re-issue of that album contains five collaborations with celebrated synth-pop act Bronski Beat on different versions of Eartha’s chart hit, ‘Cha Cha Heels’ (UK #32) and on the deft, jazz-styled “battle of the sexes” provocation of ‘My Discarded Men’. Plus the extended and edit versions of ‘80s electronic music pioneer and Art Of Noise founding member JJ Jeczalik’s remix of ‘Primitive Man’ as two of the album’s six bonus tracks.
