Description
With multi Gold selling albums and having been described by George Benson as Joy filled in expressiveness and Believable in any musical style its easy to see why Tom Browne is one of the most renowned Jazz trumpeters of our generation. Starting on the piano, and later inspired by his collection of Jazz Records, Tom Browne switched to the trumpet at the age of 11 and studied under Murray Karpilovsky who was the principal trumpeter with the NBC Orchestra. Before the release of his first album, Tom Browne had already played alongside such greats as Weldon Irvine, Sonny Fortune and Lonnie Liston Smith. However it was his second album that would give him his first taste of international success. Love Approach was released in 1980 on Dave Grusin and Larry Rosen’s label, GRP Records, giving them what is arguably the most commercially successful album in the labels history. This Jazz-Funk offering contains some of Tom Browne’s best work to date including the #1 USR & Band UK top 10 hit, FUNKIN FOR JAMAICA (N.Y.) accompanied by the soulful lead vocals of Tonni Smith. Also included is the smooth, funky, Weldon Irvine arranged, FOREVER MORE. BBR is proud to present this USA #1 R&B chart album, newly remastered and re-packaged, accompanied with extensive liner notes featuring interviews with Tom Browne, producer Larry Rosen and bass player Marcus Miller along with additional bonus content.
