RE-PRESS: CD ORIGINALLY RELEASED IN 2008
The Cuff Links were a legendary studio group featuring Ron Dante - lead singer of the Archies – and were the brainchild of Pat Rizzo (formerly of Joey Dee and the Starliters).
Featuring sax, trumpet, guitar, bass, drums, organ and vocals, the seven-piece combo created an infectious sound with their innovative renditions of contemporary pop hits and they came to the attention of legendary song-writing/production team Paul Vance & Lee Pockriss (‘Catch A Falling Star’ / ‘Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini’ / Verdelle Smith / The Vacels and many more). This talented duo then came up with the very catchy, bubblegum singalong classic – ‘Tracy’ - which was released in 1969 by Decca Records in the USA and distributed by MCA/Universal. Meanwhile, in the UK, the single was released on MCA and distributed by Decca! Whatever the label...this renowned 45 went on to became an international hit.
With that kind of success, everybody was keen to get an album together and Rupert Holmes (‘Escape – The Piña Colada song’) was called in to add his expertise and the net result was this gorgeous debut album featuring All The Young Women... Tracy, Sally Ann, Caroline, Heather and Julie! In addition to the debut album, the subsequent Decca singles (featuring vocalist Joey Cord) have all been added.
The Cuff Links have toured in the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany and various other countries in central Europe. The group appeared on Dick Clark's American Bandstand and their music has been featured on TV shows, radio programs and in several major- motion pictures.
The package also includes a full-colour booklet, positively bursting with label-repros, memorabilia and some entertaining and informative notes.
