Issued by the US label Guardian Records in September 1997, "With a Twist" was a creatively satsfying project for Rundgren and saw him take to the road with a show that resembled a Tiki lounge on stage. Critical and fan reaction was positive to the album and subsequent tour, the concept of which was described by Todd as "a conceptualised club within a club". He added "I imagined the show to be the sort of thing that pre-visualised our retirement. A sort of club where when I'm old and not touring anymore, tourists come to see me perform!".
