roll band. Those tracks I enjoy as much as anything I've ever done."

Thief Steal Into Your Heart." I thought they did a great job adapting it
to their style. Priority remains a
classic.”
GRAHAM PARKER: "To see ‘Turned Up Too Late’ recorded by the Pointer Sisters and
produced by Richard Perry was more than I could have hoped for. What an honor
for me,and what a great job they did.”
TAJ MAHAL: "The Pointer Sisters! The sheer joy and personal excitement I have had
in being part of their audience, performing, recording, touring with them, and
championing their star-studded career.”
· The trade advertisement appeared for PRIORITY in Billboard magazine on September 15th 1979 proclaiming ‘The Pointer Sisters deliver great Rock & Roll. ‘ Their new album and its title reflected an industry confidence in The Pointer Sisters after Richard Perry redefined their career with 1978’s Energy (CDBBR0105) and the massive hit single ‘Fire’ (Bruce Springsteen). This time Perry returned the Sisters to their harder rock edge, honed when backing up acts like Taj Mahal, Cold Blood, Tower Of Power and Grace Slick earlier in the decade.
· PRIORITY featured the writing talents of Ian Hunter (‘Who Do You Love’), Bob Seger (‘All Your Love’), Stealer’s Wheel (‘Blind Faith’), The Band (‘The Shape I’m In’) and The Rolling Stones (‘Happy’). The album received universally positive reviews but ran into trouble at radio stations that refused to accept a black female group as a rock act at the height of the disco era. Cuts like Richard and Linda Thompsons ‘Don’t Let A Thief Steal Into Your Heart’ and Graham Parkers ‘Turned Up Too Late’, as well as a return to the Springsteen catalogue (‘She’s Got The Fever’) were criminally ignored by programmers. Nonetheless the artistry within PRIORITY ensured a growing fan base for the album which widely regarded as a classic Rock LP.
