Description
Song stylist Nancy Wilson enjoyed a twenty-year tenure with Capitol Records (1959-79) which established her as a consistent fixture on the music scene, with over thirty albums and pop/R&B hits including ‘How Glad I Am,’ ‘Guess Who I Saw Today’ and 'You’re As Right As Rain’ (from the two-on-one 2010 SoulMusic Records’ reissue of ALL IN LOVE IS FAIR and COME GET TO THIS, SMCR-25010).
Between 1982-84, Nancy recorded a series of albums in Japan working with producer Kiyoshi Itoh and arranger Masahiko Satoh; after "The Two Of Us,” a successful album for Columbia Records in the U.S. with Ramsey Lewis, Nancy signed with the label.
For 1985’s KEEP YOU SATISFIED, Nancy reunited with Itoh and Satoh for sessions in Japan; the result was a Top 20 Jazz Album that included her take on the George Michael hit of the day, the now-classic ‘Careless Whisper’ and a striking cover of Marvin Gaye’s ‘Just To Keep You Satisfied.’
Working with the same producer and arranger, the follow-up album, 1986’s FORBIDDEN LOVER was recorded in Los Angeles; the title track - a soulful duet with singer Carl Anderson - received airplay at R&B stations in the U.S., giving Nancy her first best-selling album (#8 on Billboard’s Jazz charts). Other key cuts include a second duet with Anderson (‘Too Good To Be True’) and a superlative version of Leon Russell’s ‘A Song For You.’Press: "Keep You Satisfied is a delight...Forbidden Lover is another glittering collection." - Alan Jones, Music Week, November 2012
