RE-PRESS: CD ORIGINALLY RELEASED IN 2017
• CD edition of Eruption’s second album ‘Leave A Light’ from 1979.
• Expanded and remastered with sleevenotes including an interview with producer Rainer M Ehrhardt.
• Plus two bonus tracks.
Formed in 1969 as Silent Eruption, their members hailed from Ghana, Curaçao, Guyana, and Jamaica. Precious Wilson, who joined Eruption in 1974, added an element to the band that would take them to dizzying heights of success all over the world.
Discovered by the talent scout of producer Frank Farian (Boney M) while on tour in Germany they signed to the German-based label Hansa and broke big in 1978 with a disco cover version of the Ann Peebles classic ‘I Can’t Stand The Rain’ and their debut album. Their second album was again produced by Rainer M Ehrhardt with Frank Farian in a supervisiory role. The first single release was a cover of Caston & Majors’ ‘Leave A Light (I’ll Keep A Light In My Window)’ which became a minor hit in Germany. This was followed with ‘One Way Ticket,’ which had been a huge hit in Japan for Neil Sedaka in 1960. The single returned Eruption to the top ten in the UK and all over Europe. The album continued the band’s funky Euro-disco sound and also featured a notable version of André and Dory Previn-penned theme from the movie the Valley Of The Dolls which was originally recorded by Dionne Warwick.
