Description
British heavy metal veterans Eliminator are back with a brand-new album. Ancient Light is the follow up to 2018's Last Horizon, a release which earned rave reviews across the metal press and saw them tour the UK and Europe.
Produced by Chris Fielding (Conan, Winterfylleth, Alunah, Atavist) at Foel Studios in Wales, the new album is the result of months of lockdown frustration, producing an uncompromising and ruthless ten tracks of heavy metal bedlam. The band say: “It has been a sobering time to be a musician, with many challenges for all of us. Challenges such as writing remotely - it doesn’t have the same energy as all being in a room together sweating to death of course, but we worked tirelessly and adapted to this new way of operating. The result has been a true reflection of our successes and frustrations but has really brought colour and passion to the music.”
It's a testament to the band’s fortitude and attention to detail that despite not being able to record together, rehearse or play live they’ve still delivered an album that showcases all their musical talents in an effortless way. Ancient Light has a strong focus on the concept of entropy (a lack of order or gradual decline into disorder) – and its cyclical nature; something we’ve all witnessed first-hand over the past eighteen months. The band found it important that the lyrics “are thematically structured to tell a story from beginning to end - and back again - with recurring characters and visions.”
From racing melodic heavy metal to monolithic nightmares the album encompasses the full spectrum of their talents. You can catch the band doing what they love the most, playing live, this October as they take to the road with label mates Toledo Steel and Seven Sisters. Their first run of shows since March 2020 supporting Visigoth, the band are looking forward to causing mayhem once again, playing many of these new songs on the road. They say: “We have been good friends with both Seven Sisters and Toledo Steel for many years and have played countless shows together historically so it’s going to be great to get back on the road with our friends and bring our music to the stage after such a long break.”
