Don-E: Little Star, CD

Soul/R&B star Don-E is back with his finest album yet – a stunning 14-track collection including “Spiritual” which features no fewer than 7 of the UK’s finest male soul vocalists – Carl McIntosh of Loose Ends, Omar, Leee John of Imagination, Junior Giscombe, Noel McKoy, Paul Johnson and Rick Clarke.

Don-E, who first came to prominence in the early Nineties with his Island hit singles “Love Makes The World Go Round” and “Unbreakable”, covers a range of styles from smooth ballads to Nineties-influenced swing to frenetic up-tempo dance tunes. As well as the single “Spiritual”, he delivers a very different take on “Slave To The Rhythm” – Don frequently tours as a member of Grace Jones’ band – and plays homage to Dennis Brown with an intimate, soulful treatment of “Love Has Found Its Way”.

Don-E’s previous album “Natural” included a cameo performance from D’Angelo on keyboards as well as a duet with former Sugababe Mutya Buena.
