Description
Baron Rojo (translating as Spanish for “Red Baron”) are without doubt Spain’s premiere hard rock and heavy metal band. Originally forming in 1980 by brothers Carlos and Armando de Castro, they released their debut “Larga Vida al Rock and Roll” in 1981.
No doubt taking advantage of the nascent, burgeoning “NEW WAVE OF BRITISH HEAVY METAL” movement, then at its peak, the band relocated to England to record second LP “Volumen Brutal” at Kingsway Studio then owned by Deep Purple’s Ian Gillan (the album actually features a guest appearance from then Gillan keyboard player Colin Towns).
Released in 1982, and including rockers such as ‘Los rockeros van al infierno’, ‘Incomunicación’ and ‘Resistiré"’(Stand Up in English), the album has reputedly sold two million copies worldwide, no doubt helped by an appearance alongside Iron Maiden at 1982’s Reading Rock festival.
Featuring liner notes - from Classic Rock and Metal Hammer scribe Malcolm Dome - based on interviews with the band, plus a 16 page booklet featuring rare images and memorabilia.
