When Anthony first arrived in Atlanta, he befriended another young aspiring artist whose name was India.Arie, and went on to write the song Part Of My Life included on her debut Acoustic Soul album.
“It wasn’t until I heard some Bill Withers songs that I got the inspiration to really try singing, and then I found my vocal stride”, he explains.
Many critics have indeed compared Anthony to a modern-day Bill Withers, with his blues voice and the contemporary social issues he tackles in some of his songs. The album features many of his friends in the Atlanta music community, including India (who features on a stunning duet Words), jazz guitarist Earl Klugh, Julie Dexter (on a very authentic reggae track 50/50 Love), Keisha Jackson and Jiva’s Khari Simmons.
