Go Ahead & Burn
Shout Records presents Bobby Moore & the Rhythm Aces, a combo who, in the golden age of Soul, in the summer of 1966, took their down-home Soul from the chittlin' circuit of the Deep South into the US top 30 with hit ballad "Searching For My Love".This landmark CD presents the "Searching For My Love" LP together with all of the group's singles for Checker, and some hard-to-find tracks from the vaults, as well as an accompanying essay by Clive Richardson.Bobby Moore has a long musical pedigree, and the Checker LP carries the 'hallmark' of the legendary Muscle Shoals Studio, having been produced by studio chief Rick Hall (later of his own FAME studios and label). Testimony indeed to the enduring quality of Southern Soul. Our Price: £9.95

Dave Mason & Cass Elliot
A deceptive one this! Originally planned as a Dave Mason solo album, it is certainly one of his finest and coupling him with Cass Elliot was an utter stroke of genius, as she goes from being "just" producer and backing vocalist to being the shining guest star of the album. Cass provides excellent background vocals on her non-lead songs alongside sister Leah Kunkel making up an impressive harmony stack. The album is propelled by Mason's superb songwriting talents and tracks such as On and On, Walk to the Point, and several others bear this out. His guitar playing is some of his finest recorded work, especially the epic Glittering Façade, where he layers acoustic and electric guitars to a scintillating effect. Elliot's Here We Go Again showcases her ability as an outstanding lead vocalist, showing just what a star we lost. Paul Harris provides some excellent keyboard and string arrangements providing a glimpse of fine work that was to follow in Stephen Stills' Manassas. The rest of the stellar backing crew outdo themselves. A highly underrated album but in the end, one of the finest of the 1970s and one with a shockingly modern sound scape. Mojo Magazine awarded a very prestigious 4 stars to this CD. Our Price: £9.95

The Dreams of Michaelangelo
With beginnings going back to the 1950’s, this Liverpool group evolved through the Merseybeat era into being known as The Kirkbys. Mainstay was vocalist/guitarist Jimmy Campbell who also wrote most of the material. One song “She’ll Get No Lovin’ That Way” was covered by notable scenesters at the time, ‘The Escorts’, on their fourth single, whilst The Kirkbys only had one single released “It’s a Crime”, included here. Following a spell backing the Merseys, Jimmy Campbell and group moved into the psych 60’s period with a name change to the 23rd Turn Off (Liverpool being the 23rd turn off from the M6). In turn, one release resulted, the astounding “Michelangelo”, a beautifully crafted ballad, scored with some Penny Lane-esque trumpet and tinged with Campbell’s innate sense of melancholia. Following the 23rd Turn Off Campbell and Billy Kinsley went on to record the highly rated ‘Rockin Horse’ album, recently reissued by Rev-Ola. On this RPM collection you have the entire recordings of the Kirkbys and 23rd Turnoff, the released, the unreleased, the demos, in chronological order, packaged in rare and perfect period photos with notes from extensive interviews with group members.

BOBBIE GENTRY & GLEN CAMPBELL, ANNE MURRAY / GLEN CAMPBELL
"Bobbie Gentry & Glen Campbell” released in 1968 produced a gold record for the duo reaching No. 1 on the country chart and No. 11 on the Billboard pop charts. Two singles were released from the album, ‘Less Of Me’ and ‘Let It Be Me’, both of which hit the country charts.
‘All I Have To Do Is Dream’ was recorded in 1970 so did not feature on the original album but is included here as a bonus track. It was a smash hit in the UK reaching No. 3 in the charts; in the USA it fared less well, No. 27 Pop and No. 6 Country.
Musicians include Hal Blaine on drums and Al Casey on guitar.
"Anne Murray / Glen Campbell” released in 1971 included both new material and duet versions of songs that each artist had recorded individually. The album reached No. 4 on the country chart and the single ‘I Say A Little Prayer / By The Time I Get To Phoenix’ made the Top 40. Anne Murray’s recording career was barely a year old when this album was made. She would, of course, go on to have a fantastic career and become a Canadian treasure.

Press: "Cherry-picking the best country albums, the newly germinated Morello label has come up with a corker..." - Alan Jones, Music Week, November 2012

Ain't Nothing But A Party (The 12" Anthology)

PLEASE NOTE THIS CD IS NOT RELEASED UNTIL THE 25TH NOVEMBER - THIS IS A PRE-ORDER & THE CD WILL NOT BE SENT OUT UNTIL THE OFFICIAL RELEASE DATE

"Ain’t Nothing But A Party" is the first-ever comprehensive compilation of 12" singles from 80s chart mainstays, post-disco synth soul pioneers and perennial floor fillers Phil Fearon and Galaxy.

Compiled with Phil’s blessing, this collection brings together the definitive extended versions of all his UK single releases issued on the Ensign label from 1982 to 1987. No less than five Top Twenty hits – ‘Dancing Tight’, ‘Wait Until Tonight (My Love)’, ‘What Do I Do?’, ‘Everybody’s Laughing’ and ‘I Can Prove It’ – feature alongside Phil’s cover of the Showstoppers’ ‘Ain’t Nothing But A House Party’ – an early UK House classic produced by Stock Aitken Waterman.

Digitally remastered direct from master tapes archived at Abbey Road, this collection features many mixes unavailable since their original release and available on CD for the first time. Showcasing the innovative post-disco synth-soul sound of Phil’s FJR Studios, it also boasts mix credits for the influential M & M team of John Morales and the late Sergio Munzibai, John Luongo and PWL’s Phil Harding and Pete Hammond.

The extensive booklet also features additional photos, a fully illustrated discography, lyrics and new sleeve notes written especially for this release.

Galaxy was the brainchild of former Kandidate member Phil Fearon and launched in 1982 with the club favourite ‘Head Over Heels’. Top Five chart success followed with the classics ‘Dancing Tight’ and ‘What Do I Do?’, all generated from Phil’s own home studio. A virtual one-man ‘hit factory’ in his own right, Phil went on to record at PWL with Stock Aitken Waterman before moving into song-writing and production work for other artists, notably Pepsi & Shirlie’s 1987 smash ‘Heartache’. In recent years, he has made a long-overdue return to performing and now makes regular live appearances.

"Ain’t Nothing But A Party" is a perfect party album, essential for all 80s aficionados and the latest in the long line of popular PWL-related reissues on Cherry Pop.
