Mr. Nice Guy / Classic Masters - Ronnie Laws

Mr. Nice Guy / Classic Masters
Saxophonist/master musician, singer, songwriter and producer Ronnie Laws first began making an impact as a soloist with the 1975 release of his Blue Note album, "Pressure Sensitive.” By the start of the ‘80s, the Houston-born member of the musically prolific Laws family was topping the U.S. jazz album charts and building a solid audience among R&B fans on both sides of the Atlantic.
As part of its’ jazz/funk series, SoulMusic Records has combined one of Ronnie’s most sought after albums, 1983’s MR. NICE GUY with the 1985 release CLASSIC MASTERS which contains a number of Ronnie’s most enduring recordings from the ‘70s and early ‘80s.
A U.S.Top 10 jazz and Top 30 R&B best-seller, MR. NICE GUY focused on Ronnie’s vocals as much as it did his prowess as an instrumentalist: the album contained the Top 40 R&B hit, ‘In The Groove’ (a favourite among UK rare groove lovers), the synth-driven title track and a hip cover of Jr. Walker’s ‘What Does It Take (To Win Your Love).’ The album was reissued in the early 2000’s as a limited edition but has been out of print for several years.
As its’ name implies, CLASSIC MASTERS includes some of Ronnie’s most memorable recordings including his original of ‘Always There’ (1976), later covered by Side Effect and Incognito; ‘Friends And Strangers,’ the title cut of his 1977 best-selling album; and ‘Every Generation,’ Ronnie’s highest-charting U.S. R&B single. The track ‘City Girl’ (a Top 40 R&B hit) was recorded specifically for CLASSIC MASTERS. Includes notes by U.S. writer Jeff Lorez with new quotes from Ronnie.

Canal Trip – An Anthology 1969–1974 2CD
NEWLY REMASTERED 2 CD ANTHOLOGY OF THE BEST OF LEGENDARY DANISH BAND BURNIN RED IVANHOE RECORDED BETWEEN 1969 & 1974
BOOKLET WITH FULLY RESTORED ARTWORK & ESSAY
Esoteric Recordings are pleased to announce the release of a newly remastered anthology featuring the best of the recorded output by the legendary Danish band BURNIN RED IVANHOE, drawn from the recordings made for Sonet Records between 1969 and 1974.
Burnin Red Ivanhoe are legends of the Danish Progressive Rock scene of the late 60s / early 70s. Formed in Copenhagen in 1967, the band initially featured the talents of KARSTEN VOGEL (Saxophones), STEEN CLAESSON (Guitar, Vocals), STEEN LANGE (Bass) and BO THRIGE ANDERSEN (Drums). Signing to Sonet Records in Denmark in December 1969, the band issued their first album "M 144” in 1969. Over the next few years the band’s line-up varied, but the string of albums such as "Burnin Red Ivanhoe”, "WWW”, "Miley Smile / Stage Recall” and "Right On” released between 1969 and 1974 gained many admirers throughout the world, including John Peel (who signed the band to his Dandelion label). Burnin Red Ivanhoe’s unique fusion of Jazz, Rock and the Avant Garde was as imaginative as anything emerging from the embryonic German rock scene of the time and remains impressive forty years later.
This anthology has been newly remastered from the original master tapes and features an illustrated booklet with new essay.

Bakerloo: Remastered and Expanded Edition
•    NEWLY REMASTERED & EXPANDED EDITION OF THIS CLASSIC 1969 ALBUM BY BAKERLOO (featuring CLEM CLEMPSON)
•    FEATURING FIVE BONUS TRACKS
•    WITH FULLY RESTORED ARTWORK & NEW LINER NOTES

Esoteric Recordings are pleased to announce the release of a newly re-mastered and expanded edition of the classic self-titled 1969 album by BAKERLOO. This Progressive Blues outfit formed in Staffordshire in 1968 and comprised Dave "Clem” Clempson (vocals, guitar, harmonica, keyboards), Keith Baker (bass) and Terry Poole (drums). Originally known as The Bakerloo Blues Line, the band emerged at the tail end of the British Blues boom, and soon expanded their musical horizons with Clempson’s exceptional guitar playing ability at the heart of their live shows.

After shortening their name to Bakerloo, the band signed to Birmingham promoter Jim Simpson’s Big Bear stable of artists, embarking on "The Big Bear Ffolly Tour” in the Autumn of 1968 with fellow acts Locomotive, Earth (later to change their name to Black Sabbath) and Tea and Symphony. Soon after Bakerloo had the distinction of supporting the newly formed Led Zeppelin at their first gig at The Marquee Club on October 18th 1968. The band signed to Tuesday Productions and recorded a sole eponymous album which was released on Harvest Records in November 1969. A promising live attraction, their career ended when Clem Clempson departed the group to replace James Litherland in Colosseum in 1970.

This Esoteric Recordings release has been newly re-mastered and features five bonus tracks (including a B-side of a single and four studio out-takes), a booklet that fully restores the original album artwork and a new essay.
