Do Me Baby - Meli'sa Morgan

Do Me Baby
After singing with the groups Shades Of Love and High Fashion and doing session work in New York, Meli’sa Morgan’s solo career skyrocketed with the 1985 release of her emotive reading of Prince’s ‘Do Me Baby,’ a No. 1 U.S. R&B single and U.S. Top 50 pop hit.

Named after her debut hit, DO ME BABY featured production by Paul Laurence, Bryan Loren and five tracks co-produced by Meli’sa and co-writer Lesette Wilson.

A Top 5 U.S. R&B and Top 50 pop best-selling album, DO ME BABY also included the Top 5 U.S. R&B single, the classic slow jam ‘Do You Still Love Me?’ as well as the hit single ‘Fool’s Paradise’ (used by Jay Z in 1996 on ‘Can’t Knock The Hustle’ featuring Mary J. Blige).

The original LP has long been in demand by Meli’sa’s fans: this exciting expanded edition includes mixes of two of the album’s hit singles along with a 12” single edit of the key cut, ‘Getting To Know You Better.’ In addition, there are two mixes of ‘Deeper Love’ (from the soundtrack of the 1986 Eddie Murphy hit movie, "The Golden Child”), a U.S. and U.K. charted single for Mel’isa.

A consistent performer, Meli’sa was featured on the commercially-released remix of Jay Z’s ‘Can’t Knock The Hustle’ and in 2010 on the Cool Million album, "Back For More.”

Press:-

"There aren’t many artists whose debut single reaches number one in the US R&B Charts. If there are, then even fewer will have had their debut album reach number four in the US R&B Charts. This was the case, when Meli’sa Morgan released her debut single and album Do Me Baby.”

Together
When Rock Your Baby took the global charts by storm in the summer of 1974, it brought wide recognition to T.K Records and instant acclaim for George McCrae. His wife Gwen, who had already tasted chart success on Columbia in 1970, joined him in Henry Stone s Miami empire, and her 1975 hit with Rockin Chair prompted Stone to record the couple on an album of duets.
Together was an obvious title, and Winners Together Losers Apart , an appropriate hit 45 in spring 1976. This release also features special bonus solo tracks by George, including I Ain’t Lyin / You Got to Know , an in-demand US and UK hit 45 from 1975, the collectable Everytime You Say Goodbye from 1984, and club hit Do Something from 1995.

Guitarist, George Johnson and Bassist, Louis Johnson became two of the most in demand session players in early seventies Los Angeles, backing the likes of Bobby Womack, Billy Preston and The Supremes. The Brothers Johnson came to define the uptown funk of the late seventies with hits like I ll Be Good To You, Get the Funk Outta My Face, Runnin For Your Lovin and Strawberry Letter #23.

Fresh from their international 1980 smash hit, Stomp, the duo released their fifth album in 1981. Quincy Jones had just left A&M Records and was unavailable for production duties but the Brothers Johnson were confident that they had learned enough from their mentor and proved it by producing their own masterpiece with WINNERS.
