Shout Records catalogue continued to grow during 2009 with the release of Sandra Feva “Savoir Faire Plus” (Shout 51), Willie Hutch “Soul Portrait” (Shout 52), Philippe Wynne “Soul from Sugar Hill” (Shout 53) and Randy Brown “Welcome To My Room/Midnight Desire” (Shout 54) in the first half of the year.

The onset of summer was greeted in seasonal style by George & Gwen McCrae with the first CD re-issue of their 1975 “Together” album of Miami soul (Shout 55, July), which also included bonus solo tracks by George McCrae, in-demand with collectors, and August saw the re-promotion of the Rivingtons “Papa Oom Mow Mow” (Shout 35) after a period of being out-of-stock.

Further quality packages  came in September with the long-awaited CD re-issue of  “Very Extremely Dangerous”, the much-sought 1978 Capricorn album by the late Eddie Hinton (Shout 59), and  “Piece of Her Heart”, accorded the honour of having the landmark catalogue number Shout 50, which gathers the complete Epic and Shout (US) recordings of Erma Franklin for the first time on one CD, sadly commemorating the anniversary of her death in September 2002.

Further treats came in October, with “Something To Remember” combining the two albums recorded for Casablanca by the Four Tops (Shout 58), including hits “When She Was My Girl” and “Don’t Walk Away”, and “Grace and Savour - the Philly Soul of the Tymes” (Shout 56), which features their 70’s RCA smash hit “Ms Grace” and the “Trustmaker” album, plus 1960’s Columbia LP “People” on one CD.

Concluding our releases for this year are an intriguing compilation entitled “Super Baby Cakes” on Shout 57,  featuring nine rare tracks by Jimmy Radcliffe plus a further 11 tracks by artists including Barbara Jean English, Pat Lundy and Irene Reid, all written by Radcliffe and compiled in his own inimitable style by Jimmy’s son Chris Radcliffe, who also provides insights in the booklet note. Finally comes the first CD re-issue of the hard-to-find album cut by Sam & Dave on United Artists in 1974, “Back At ‘Cha” (Shout 60), produced by Steve Cropper.

Coming in 2010...
The first release of the new year will bring the Soul Children to the Shout! catalogue with a two-fer ‘There Always’ (Shout! 61), combining their two albums recorded for Epic in 1976/77, Finders Keepers and the much sought Where Is Your Woman Tonight on one CD.

In February will come ‘The Gospel Sound’, (Shout! 62) a single CD package comprising 26 selected tracks from two double-albums first issued on vinyl way back in 1972, and compiled then by Professor Tony Heilbut to ‘illustrate’ his authoritative book of the same name which traced the history of gospel music from its roots into the soul era which bore so much of its influence.

‘The Sound of Philadelphia’ makes its bow on the label in March with ‘Forever’ (Shout! 63), featuring the Ebonys’ 1973 album from Philadelphia International plus singles tracks not featured on the vinyl album.

It is hoped that future projects could include further material from the vaults of Chris Radcliffe’s Black Patch Productions along with a series of CDs re-packaging all the Dial singles releases by Joe Tex, and possibly further treasures from the Casablanca catalogue, this following the success of our Randy Brown and Four Tops CDs.

This series reissues all the Tex LP's on CD for the first time and will contain all his US and international hits, plus bonus tracks, recorded for Dial records until his death in 1982.

Vol.3 collects together two albums released through Atlantic in 1968: Live and Lively (not really live at all, a studio album with audience additions), featuring the US Billboard hits 'Papa Was Too' (R&B), 'Show Me, and Skinny Legs & All' (Top 10); along with the thematic and highly-acclaimed Soul Country. In addition, there are three bonus tracks, including the single hit 'Men Are Getting Scarce.
