The Chesterfields were formed in 1984 in deepest Dorset and signed to Bristol's Subway Organisation label - this 27 track compilation is the first to covet the whole of the band's career. After having 4 Independent chart hit singles, including the highly rated 'Ask Johnny Dee', their debut album 'Kettle' was released in 1987 and reached No 5 in the Indie Charts - two more albums, 'Westward Ho!' and 'Crocodile Tears' followed over the next two years. 'ELECTRIC GUITARS IN THEIR HEARTS' also features a previously unreleased version of 'Glad For You', with Rob Ellis (PJ Harvey), Clare Mactaggart (Portishead) and Andy Strickland (The Loft).

Fruit At The Bottom
Having brought their esoteric funk leanings to Prince & The Revolution through the purple reign of the early 80s, Wendy Melvoin and Lisa Coleman split to pursue their own maverick musical path in 1986. Fruit At The Bottom, their second and most commercially successful album, saw the duo (who recently won their first Emmy for the Nurse Jackie score) at their most vivaciously funky and radio-friendly, including the hit single Are You My Baby?

Included on this Special Edition CD of 16 remastered tracks are: The original 1989 album containing the singles Are You My Baby? , Lolly Lolly and Satisfaction , written and produced by Wendy & Lisa. Includes guest appearances by Jesse Johnson of The Time and Susannah Melvoin of The Family. A must-have for all Prince fans.

Some People
Released 20/04/09. Born Neville Keighley, Some released his first LP 'Some People' in 1985 and the title track was a club hit. Although Some's contribution to the Pretty in Pink soundtrack, "Round, Round," did not penetrate the mainstream, it introduced Some to an audience outside of discotheques. Produced by Bernard Edwards, "Round, Round" had enough electric guitars to seduce rock fans while maintaining the interest of the dance crowd with its pounding groove.

‘Imagination', a song from 'Some People', was reissued in 1986, peaking at number 17 on the U.K. pop charts. Both ‘Some People' and ‘Imagination' were remixed several times. In 1987, Some recorded his self-titled second album, but it failed to duplicate the success of his debut. Some then disappeared from the music scene, lost in an '80s "Where Are They Now?" file until 1993 when he released Living Your Life. Contains the top 20 hit ‘Imagination'

Choirboys Gas
Originally released on the classic El label, 'Choirboys Gas' is typical of the kind of leftfield bohemian sound that was championed by major influence 'Mike Alway' at the time. Cally and Katz, two brilliantly intelligent and party-loving girls from Leigh-On-Sea in Essex teamed with the King Of Luxembourg, who wrote and produced this most stunning pop essay of an album. The joy of sex and the pleasures of subversion are charted on a great album that is Punk wrapped in a chocolate box. Our Price: £9.95

Would Be Goods : The Camera Loves Me (Digipack) The Camera Loves Me (Digipack)
In the wake of the forthcoming reactivation of el records (an event that should herald national rejoicing), the original classic catalogue is to be repackaged, remastered and converted to the attractive CD digi pack format with the would be goods masterpiece 'The Camera Loves Me' is the first in the series. Would Be Goods comprised the gifted lyricist Jessica Griffin and her sister Miranda and 'The Camera Loves Me' is the defining el records production; thoroughly enigmatic, incredibly original and extraordinarily funny. 'The Camera Loves Me' is popular music as both art and artifact- a work of great individuality that in terms of concept and ambition is three decades ahead of it's time. In it's own way, this outstanding record is as stylish and as quintessentially English a piece of modern surrealism as Patrick McGoohan's 'Prisoner' or 'The Avengers' of Steed & Mrs Peel. In 1987, this album was more influential than any from western independent pop culture in encouraging the then formative j-pop and inspiring Japan's biggest contemporary underground pop star Keigo Oyamada (Cornelius) to 'invent' Kahimi Karie who would go on to enjoy enormous domestic success (with this particular style of international whimsicality and refined lightness adapted from el). In Britain, 'The Camera Loves Me' easily defied classification and was a critical success. Now almost two decades later the album regarded by observers as one of the important creative landmarks of the eighties. The new digipack has been re-mastered to include the original Monochrome Set produced album augmented by the first scarce King Of Luxembourg / Richard Preston produced single 'Fruit Paradise' / 'Hanging Gardens Of Reigate' Our Price: £9.95
