Russian Roulette - Accept

Russian Roulette
•    The 7th studio album by German heavy metal heroes Accept, "Russian Roulette” was originally released in 1986. Recorded at famed Dierks Studios in Germany, the album was produced by the band themselves.

•    The last Accept LP to feature Udo Dirkschneider, until his return in 1993, the album finds Accept returning to darker tones and a heavier sound to that of the more commercially orientated previous record, "Metal Heart”. The artwork and themes of the record reflects an era when the cold war still at its height, and the fall of the Berlin wall still more than three years away.

•    This remastered version features 3 live bonus tracks recorded on their 1985 Japanese tour; ‘Burning’, ‘Head Over Heels’ and ‘Neon Nights’. Also available from HNE Recordings by Accept are the 2CD "Balls To The Wall” with a bonus live CD of "Staying A Life - Live In Japan” and "Metal Heart” backed with the bonus mini-album "Kaizuko-Ban”.

•    This version features new liner notes from Classic Rock and Metal Hammer’s Malcolm Dome, based on recent interviews with original members Wolf Hoffmann and Stefan Kaufmann.

•    This CD is released 21st April and will not be shipped prior to this date.

Always
Produced by Stock Aitken Waterman, Ian Levine, Trevor Vallis, Pete Hammond and Pete Ware, "Always" features a host of classic SAW singles – ‘Who’s Leaving Who?’ (#4), a cover of Anne Murray’s 1986 single, ‘Maybe (We Should Call It A Day)’ (#15), ‘Turn It Into Love’ (#21), originally an album track and subsequently a Japanese #1 for Kylie Minogue, plus the dancefloor favourites ‘They Say It’s Gonna Rain’ and ‘Always Doesn’t Mean Forever’.

Digitally re-mastered direct from master tapes held at the PWL, Abbey Road and Capitol Records archives, this Deluxe Edition brings together the original nine-track album with no less than 20 bonus tracks across two CDs. Added to the album and available on CD for the very first time are two sought-after 1986 singles: ‘Stand Up’, a Stock Aitken Waterman reworking of Umberto Tozzi’s ‘Hurrah’, and ‘E.S.P. (Extra Sensual Persuasion)’, a cover of Millie Jackson’s 1983 single. Bonus tracks also include rare B-sides, the 1987 U.S. 7" remix of the 1985 hit ‘No Fool (For Love)’, the original Dutch-only single version of ‘Walk In My Shoes’ and many mixes previously unreleased in the UK or only available on vinyl.

The extensive booklet also features additional photos, a fully illustrated discography and recording data, full lyrics and an exclusive track-by-track commentary written for this release by Hazell herself.

The definitive doyenne of the Hi-NRG scene, Essex-born Hazell Dean found mainstream success in 1984 with the #6 hit ‘Searchin’ (Gotta Find A Man)’ on the Proto label. The Stock Aitken Waterman-produced follow-up, ‘Whatever I Do (Wherever I Go)’, reached #4, giving the Hit Factory team their first Top Ten single and marking the beginning of a partnership with Hazell which continued until 1991. After the release of her 1985 album "Heart First", Hazell signed with EMI and a succession of releases over the next three years culminated with "Always", widely regarded as her best work. In the years since, Hazell has continued to write, produce and record, recently revisiting ‘They Say It’s Gonna Rain’ on Energise Records, as well as maintaining her profile as an evergreen club performer.

This Deluxe Edition of "Always" follows the popular reissue of Hazell’s "Heart First" and many other PWL-related titles on Cherry Pop, including Mel & Kim, Sinitta, Haywoode, Sonia, Big Fun, Brother Beyond, Pepsi & Shirlie and O’chi Brown.

Balls To The Wall 2CD
Originally released at the end of 1983, "Balls To the Wall” is the fifth album by the influential German heavy metal band Accept.
Taking much of their inspiration from the likes of fellow German hard-rockers the Scorpions, as well as a debt to UK metal legends Judas Priest, Accept were fronted by the inimitable Udo Dirkschneider on vocals, backed by lead guitar heroes Wolf Hoffmann and Herman Frank.
Controversial at the time for its cover and some of the album’s themes, it was also their greatest commercial success, reaching number 75 inthe US Billboard Hot 100. "Balls To The Wall” received gold status in the US, partly off the back of the heavy rotation the title track’s video received on MTV.
The album is now backed by the bonus CD "Staying A Life”, a live album recorded at the Festival Hall, Osaka, Japan on 18th September 1985. As well as storming live versions of key tracks from "Balls To The Wall”, it features many Accept classics including ‘Breaker’, ‘Princess Of The Dawn’, ‘Restless And Wild’, ‘Son Of A Bitch’ and ‘Fast As A Shark’.
An expanded booklet features new liner notes from Classic Rock and Metal Hammer’s Malcolm Dome, commissioned for this release.

Metal Heart/Kaizoku-Ban - Live in Japan
"Metal Heart”, Accept’s sixth studio album, was their second major label release after 1983’s "Balls to The Wall”. Their 1985 record found the legendary and highly influential German heavy metal band go in a slightly more US radio-friendly than their previous releases, particularly on the single ‘Midnight Mover’.
This edition now includes the Japanese live mini-album "Kaizoku-Ban” in its entirety, recorded in Nagoya, Japan, on September 19, 1985 on the Japanese leg of the band’s Metal Heart world tour. "Kaizoku-Ban” features ‘Metal Heart’, ‘Screaming For A Love-Bite’ and ‘Up To The Limit’ from "Metal Heart” and ‘Head Over Heels’, ‘Love Child’ and ‘Living For Tonite’ from their previous long-player, "Balls to The Wall”.
The album was their first to be produced by famed German producer Dieter Dirks, best known for his work with fellow Teutonic rockers, the Scorpions.
This varied album strays into jazz territory on ‘Teach Us To Survive’ and even classical themes, with parts of Tchaikovsky's ‘Slavonic March’ and Beethoven's ‘Für Elise’ featured during the title track.
The 16 page booklet features liner notes from Metal Hammer and Classic Rock’s Malcolm Dome based on a new interview with the band’s Wolf Hoffman.

The Battle Rages On / Come Hell Or High Water (2CD Deluxe Digipak)
Many consider the vintage "Mk2” Deep Purple line-up of Ritchie Blackmore on guitar, lead singer Ian Gillan, bassist Roger Glover on bass, the late, great Jon Lord on keyboards and the drumming of Ian Paice, to be the near definitive version of this classic British rock institution. It was this line-up that got back• Many consider the vintage "Mk2” Deep Purple line-up of Ritchie Blackmore on guitar, lead singer Ian Gillan, bassist Roger Glover on bass, the late, great Jon Lord on keyboards and the drumming of Ian Paice, to be the near definitive version of this classic British rock institution. It was this line-up that got back together – for a third and last time – to tour and record for their 25th Anniversary in 1993.

Released in July 1993, "The Battle Rages On” features some classic, ballsy hard rock, including the single ‘Anya’.

Despite playing what many consider to be some of their best ever shows in mainland Europe, especially during a lengthy 13 date German tour, Blackmore dropped the bombshell midway through the European leg that these would his last concerts with the band, making this a unique document of this remarkable band.

Fortunately, two shows (in Stuttgart and Birmingham) were recorded, released in 1994 as ‘Come Hell Or High Water”, which makes up the second disc of this release. Capturing many Purple favourites across its nine tracks, including ‘Highway Star’, ‘Black Night’ and ‘Perfect Strangers, as well as two songs from the then latest "The Battle Rages On”, making this a singular memento from these legendary rockers. It should come as no surprise that the set is capped by the band’s most enduring hit, ‘Smoke On The Water’.

This 20th Anniversary reissue includes an extensive 3,500 word liner note detailing the events surrounding these recordings, and packaged in a deluxe digi-pak.

Eat The Heat
•    Accept’s eighth studio album, "Eat The Heat” was recorded at the Dierks Studios in Cologne between September 1988 to January 1989.

•    Although they can trace their origins back to the late 60s, these German heavy metal pioneers didn’t release an album until 1979’s self-titled debut. Four year later they finally found a place on the international stage and major label success with 1983’s controversial "Balls To The Wall”, which was followed up by the more radio-friendly "Metal Heart” in 1985. Both are available as HNE expanded editions.

•    Originally led by the seemingly irreplaceable Udo Dirkschneider, the singer left for a solo career as "UDO” following 1986’s "Russian Roulette”. Replacing Udo with the previously unknown David Reece, lead guitarist Wolf Hoffmann, bassist Peter Baltes and drummer Stefan Kaufmann produced "Eat The Heat” in 1989, their first LP without Udo.

•    Now presented with a 16 page booklet featuring an in-depth essay about the album from Classic Rock and Metal Hammer’s Malcolm Dome, based on new interviews with the band, this remastered CD also includes the non-album 12” single remix of ‘Generation Clash’ as a bonus track.

•    This CD is released 21st April and will not be shipped prior to this date.
