Psychic - Shakin' Street

Psychic

Shakin' Street are the legendary French hard rock band formed in 1976 for the legendary Punk Rock Festival Mont de Marsan by the unique Tunisian born chanteuse Fabienne Shine.

Originally encouraged to form the band by Led Zeppelin's Robert Plant and Jimmy Page, Fabienne had already enjoyed a varied and colourful career as a model in Paris, as well as appearing in a number of cult motion pictures, such as Roger Vadim's 'Barbarella", Fellini's "Roma" and the Taviani Brothes’  "I Sovversivi".

After signing to CBS for 1978 debut "Vampire Rock", she was joined by Dictators and Manowar guitarist, Ross the Boss, for their eponymous breakthrough LP in 1980.

After reforming for 2004, later releasing 2008's "21st Century Love Channel", a new look Shakin' Street now return in 2014 for the much anticipated "Psychic", and now with Ross The Boss back in the band's ranks.

Featuring 11 new tracks, covering themes as far ranging as ‘Kinky Sex’ and ‘Dying For A Snack’, it was recorded in France and produced by original drummer Jean-Lou Kalinowski. This transatlantic hard rock opus will see Shakin' Street on tour throughout 2014.

Flying Again / Airborne
To many people, the mere mention of West Coast country rockers The Flying Burrito Brothers evokes memories of the talismanic Gram Parsons, continuing to live out hisAmerican cosmic music dream. True, Parson’s brief tenure with the band fell in between his even shorter time with The Byrds and his sadly equally short-lived solo career. But as these two Flying Burrito Brothers albums, along with a career that lasted even into the new Millennium, there’s a lot more to the Flying Burritos than Gram Parsons. When Gram Parsons died in September 1973, the legend surrounding his death led to increased interest in his musical legacy. A&M, keen to cashin, released the compilation album Close Up The Honky Tonks in 1974. This in turn prompted band members Ethridge and Kleinow to revive The Flying Burrito Brothers, this time with ex-Byrds guitarist Gene Parsons and country musicians Floyd Gib Guilbeau and Joel Scott Hill. The new-look band signed to Columbia Records, and released Flying Again , the first of these two albums in 1975. It ‘s a perfect example of the way country rock music had developed since The Byrds broke new ground with Sweetheart Of The Rodeo through to the manner in which the likes of the Eagles and Jackson Browne were now beginning to command American airwaves. All The Good That's Happening
After scoring a national US hit in mid-1966 with their garage band classic Hey Joe, seminal LA folk-rockers The Leaves moved from local label Mira to Capitol Records. Recorded in the autumn of 1966, All The Good That’s Happening was their major label debut album. However, it proved to be their last recording, with the group splitting up early the following year when founder member Jim Pons quit to join the Turtles.

Unavailable in CD format for nearly two decades, and previously unreleased outside of America, All The Good That’s Happening is now finally given wider exposure. Boasting such lysergic weird-outs as Lemmon Princess and the Byrdsish On The Plane alongside superb, spooked covers of Codine and Donovan s To Try For The Sun, the album can now be seen as a fascinating signpost towards the emerging West Coast sound as, aided by the use of certain chemical substances, the LA folk-rock scene of the mid-1960s slid uneasily into psychedelic territory.

With a lavish 16-page booklet that includes rare photos and a new essay on the band, this Grapefruit label issue is the definitive release of a largely overlooked but pivotal folk-into-psych album.

Hollywood Brats
Formed in 1972 the Hollywood Brats were Punk long before the term was invented. Dressed in make-up and women's blouses they sought to shock, whilst making the music they wanted to make. The packaging for this CD has been lovingly assembled with biographies from both vocalist Andrew Matheson and guitarist Brady plus all the lyrics. The digital mastering was undertaken by keyboard player Casino Steel.
