Changing States (Remastered Edition)

Esoteric Recordings are pleased to announce the release of the 1995 solo album by KEITH EMERSON, "Changing States”.

One of his most consistent solo works, the album featured Keith on classic form on pieces such as ‘Shelter from the Rain’, ‘Another Frontier’ (originally recorded by Emerson, Lake & Palmer as ‘Changing States’), ‘Montagues and Capulets’, and possibly the definitive version of the classic ‘Abaddon’s Bolero’ recorded with the London Philharmonic Orchestra.

Unavailable for many years, "Changing States” has been newly remastered and features an illustrated booklet with essay.

Flying Again / Airborne
To many people, the mere mention of West Coast country rockers The Flying Burrito Brothers evokes memories of the talismanic Gram Parsons, continuing to live out hisAmerican cosmic music dream. True, Parson’s brief tenure with the band fell in between his even shorter time with The Byrds and his sadly equally short-lived solo career. But as these two Flying Burrito Brothers albums, along with a career that lasted even into the new Millennium, there’s a lot more to the Flying Burritos than Gram Parsons. When Gram Parsons died in September 1973, the legend surrounding his death led to increased interest in his musical legacy. A&M, keen to cashin, released the compilation album Close Up The Honky Tonks in 1974. This in turn prompted band members Ethridge and Kleinow to revive The Flying Burrito Brothers, this time with ex-Byrds guitarist Gene Parsons and country musicians Floyd Gib Guilbeau and Joel Scott Hill. The new-look band signed to Columbia Records, and released Flying Again , the first of these two albums in 1975. It ‘s a perfect example of the way country rock music had developed since The Byrds broke new ground with Sweetheart Of The Rodeo through to the manner in which the likes of the Eagles and Jackson Browne were now beginning to command American airwaves. Tilt
Released 15/06/09. Considered to be one of England's best drummers, and very much in demand for rock and pop records, Cozy Powell was almost legendary for a heavy-hitting style that could be made to work with many kinds of rock music, whether for the thundering pop productions helmed by Mickie Most, Black Sabbath, Emerson, Lake & Powell, or even his own solo work (notably "Dance with the Devil," which was a major English hit in 1973.) Powell began his professional music career in 1965 with the Sorcerers, eventually winding up working with Jeff Beck after Beck left the Yardbirds. In 1971, Powell formed Bedlam, but eventually abandoned this project to produce singles such as "Dance with the Devil." He later formed Cozy Powell's Hammer, which broke up in 1975. After a brief sabbatical, he joined Rainbow, helping to give the band a thundering rhythm section before quitting after four years and four albums in 1980. Always in demand for the drum seat, he alternated between session work and working in a variety of bands, including the Michael Schenker Group, Whitesnake and Black Sabbath, never staying in any one band for very long. In 1996, he worked with former Fleetwood Mac guitarist Peter Green on his long-awaited comeback tour. At the time of his death on April 5, 1998, he was recuperating from a foot injury that had sidelined him from touring work with guitarist Yngvie Malmsteen. He was driving on the M4 Motorway towards Bristol when he apparently lost control of his car (due to bad weather), slamming into the center divider of the motorway. He died a few hours later in the hospital. Our Price: £9.95

The Sprocket Sessions
Released on 21/06/10. This is an Official Bootleg by Emerson, Lake & Powell, and the mid-1980s ELP-splinter group, formed when Carl Palmer was still contractually obligated to record with Asia. Live In Concert, features a rare live recording from the group's only tour in 1986, from recently discovered recordings in Greg Lake's personal archives. With Palmer's blessing Emerson and Lake recruited fellow Brit Cozy Powell to handle the drums on new material the two had written and were planning to record. Powell, whose drumming style was very powerful and considerably different than Palmer's, helped create a new sound for the progressive music written by Emerson & Lake. Live In Concert, taken from a 1986 show recorded in Lakeland, Florida and has been digitally re-mastered. Our Price: £9.95
