And Once Again: Expanded Edition - Isaac Hayes

And Once Again: Expanded Edition
•    Isaac Hayes needs no introduction. As a songwriter his career spanned more than 45 years during which time he penned countless songs for himself and others while releasing numerous albums containing tracks that have kept dance floors moving since the 60s.

•    1980 saw the release of AND ONCE AGAIN, the fourth solo studio album released on Polydor Records from the legendary Isaac Hayes. The follow up to the hugely successful Don’t Let Go, AND ONCE AGAIN took a softer approach and focused more on the fantastic ballad talents of Isaac Hayes.

Notable tracks on the album include the supplicating serenade, IKES RAP VII/THIS TIME I’LL BE SWEETER which consistently builds and grips throughout its duration and the up-tempo I AIN’T NEVER which contains the trademark driving bassline that captivates the listener on almost all Isaac Hayes

Prog Is Not A Four Letter Word
Whoever came up with the over-pretentious, collective term "Progressive Rock" couldn’t have been less forward thinking. Prog rock in its truest form was not a ‘restrictive’ genre - it was a movement that unified ALL genres.

Forget such flamboyant cover stars such as Genesis, Yes and ELP, what of the truly progressive international rock musicians who started their own hybrid-hurricanes outside the rectangular iris of Prog's media storm? What about the unintentionally progressive musicians from the far reaches of the globe who were forced to create their own brand of psychedelic rock in a country shielded from the influence of the western world? And why don’t we spare a thought (and some needle time), for the culturally progressive crusaders carrying the rock-music flag in the face of political adversity risking social ostrasization or even death?

Even though most of the 15 tracks on this compilation were recorded over 30 years ago they still, individually embody a wide range of challenging progressive musical ideas which are as relevant today as they were when the vinyl first came off the press in each of their scattered countries of origin.

"Prog Is Not A Four Letter Word" is the follow-up to ANDY VOTEL (TWISTED NERVE)’s critically acclaimed "Folk Is Not A Four Letter Word" (CDDELAY01), which caused quite a stir earlier this year.

The majority of these tracks have never before been on CD, many appear here for the first time away from their highly sought after, and stupendously rare, original releases.

The Gap Band VI
THE GAP BAND enjoyed huge success throughout the 70s and 80s with their unique sound and contribution to the Funk scene. Formed in 1967 in their hometown of Tulsa, Oklahoma, brothers Charlie, Ronnie and Robert Wilson first went by the name Greenwood, Archer and Pine Street Band later shortening the name to THE GAP BAND in 1973. LA Producer, Lonnie Simmons, signed them to his label, Total Experience Records, setting in motion what would be the start of a long and prosperous relationship between THE GAP BAND and Simmons.

Notable hits include their top ten hit Shake, the breakthrough single from The Gap Band II, I Don't Believe You Want To Get Up And Dance (Oops!) and the number one R&B hit Early In The Morning taken from their 1982 #1 R&B album The Gap Band IV. 1985 brought the release of THE GAP BAND VI and with it the band soared back to the top of the R&B album chart with the chosen singles also enjoying impressive chart positions. The first single BEEP A FREAK, peaked at #2 R&B, their highest chart spot since Outstanding took the top spot on the R&B charts in 1982. The albums other two singles followed suit with I FOUND MY BABY hitting #8 in the R&B chart, and DISRESPECT earning a Top 20 R&B position.

Twice as Sweet- Expanded Edition
Released on 26/10/11 TWICE AS SWEET was A TASTE OF HONEY's third album overall, and their first since being reduced to the duo of JANICE MARIE JOHNSON and HAZEL PAYNE. However, it was the album's third single, a cover of a Japanese pop song with new English-language lyrics written by Johnson, that gave the band a massive surprise hit.
