Strange Cruise - Strange Cruise

Strange Cruise
The first time on CD for this much requested album by Strange Cruise - a band fronted by ex-Visage frontman Steve Strange and Wendy Cruise (Wu) formerly of The Photos.

This CD features the original 10 track album that was released in 1986 on EMI Records. It was produced by Mike Hedges - best known for his work with The Cure, Siouxsie & The Banshees, The Beautiful South and Manic Street Preachers amongst others.

There are two bonus tracks - 12" version of ‘Rebel Blue Rocker’ - Rebel Mix and b/side ‘Silver Screen Queen’. · The album has been remastered. · The CD booklet will feature the original front cover and a UK discography of Strange Cruise and Visage.

This is the first time these tracks have appeared on CD. · This release follows our reissues of Visage's "The Anvil” (CRPOP6) and "Beat Boy” (CRPOP14). · Following the demise of Visage, Steve Strange formed Strange Cruise with ex Photos singer Wendy Cruise (Wu). Other members included Steve and Gary Barnacle who'd contributed to Visage's 3rd album "Beat Boy”. The band recorded the "Strange Cruise” album in Germany under the experienced production skills of Mike Hedges. The band released the album and two singles before disbanding, complaining of the releases not being supported by the record label. There is still much interest in the recorded output of Steve Strange and Visage.

La Toya Jackson
When you hear the name La Toya Jackson all sorts of thoughts spring to mind. Her nude appearances in Playboy, shopping with exotic snakes draped around her shoulders, tell-all books, psychic hotlines and all manner of bizarre stories reported in the tabloid newspapers of the late 1980s and early 90s. Scandal and intrigue have always surrounded La Toya, from her radical transformation from the Jackson's shy sister into a worldwide sex symbol, to her recent re-emergence as a key supporter of her brother Michael during his 2005 trial. The last thing that probably springs into most people's minds is her music. There's a lot more to Grammy Award winning La Toya than just her body-she has a lot of soul too. In this, her 1980 debut album, listen out for ‘Night Time Lover', produced by her brother Michael; the exquisite ‘My Love Has Passed You By', featuring Stevie Wonder on harmonica; ‘Are You Ready', written by Billy Ocean; and the lead single ‘If You Feel The Funk'. The first, ever British release of La Toya Jackson's self-titled album, over 25 years after it was first released in America and Europe in 1980. Including contributions from her brother Michael, sister Janet, Stevie Wonder and Billy Ocean, this is the first release from Cherry Red Records new imprint Cherry Pop, committed to rediscovering the best 80's pop albums and artists. Mandy
Released 13/04/09. The very first album to be released on Pete Waterman's PWL label back in 1988, Mandy Smith's one and only album "Mandy" is given a re-mastered Special Edition reissue. This Special Edition features the singles "I Just Can't Wait", "Positive Reaction", "Boys And Girls" and "Victim Of Pleasure", with the addition of a subsequent release, Mandy's 1989 cover of the Human League classic "Don't You Want Me Baby?".

Exclusive bonus tracks have been selected direct from the PWL archives. Long thought to be mere rumour, an unreleased Hi-NRG cover of Twinkle's 1964 smash "Terry" and Mandy's original version of the Kylie Minogue hit "Got To Be Certain" feature together with rare mixes of all five singles. These include a bona-fide Balearic classic: the Cool And Breezy Jazz Version of "Mandy's Theme (I Just Can't Wait)".

A successful model, Mandy was only 16 when she launched her music career, but media interest was focused on her personal life and UK chart success proved elusive. However, she scored major hits internationally, notably across Europe and in Japan, and her album remains a favourite for many 80s pop devotees.
