Relight My Fire: Expanded Edition - Dan Hartman

Relight My Fire: Expanded Edition
Daniel Earl Hartman a.k.a. DAN HARTMAN was an American musician, singer, songwriter and producer who hailed from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. He is best known for his disco hits ‘Instant Replay,’ ‘Love Sensation’ and ‘Relight My Fire’ as well as penning the second biggest hit for the Edgar Winter Group, ‘Free Ride,’ of which he was a member. Having schooled himself playing bass and writing songs for his first band The Legends (which also included his brother Dave) Hartman joined the Edgar Winter Group and appeared on three of their albums before going solo in 1976.

After initially releasing the magnificently titled promotional album "Who Is Dan Hartman and Why is Everyone Saying Wonderful Things About Him?,” which was a retrospective on his career until that point, Hartman scored big in 1978 with the #1 Disco smash ‘Instant Replay’ (from the album of the same name) which also crossed over to the U.S. And U.K. Pop charts.

In 1979 Hartman released RELIGHT MY FIRE (R&B #67, Pop #169), and again hit the top of the Disco charts with the title track, a bonefide disco classic that featured Hartman's friend Loleatta Holloway on vocals and is preceded by the understated "Vertigo” which perfectly sets your anticipation before the main event.  ‘Relight My Fire’ was subsequently covered by U.K. boy band Take That featuring Lulu, who took their version to the top of the U.K. Pop charts in 1993.

Throughout the LP Hartman keeps the party energy in full flow and on the opener ‘Hands Down’ we are treated to Stevie Wonder and Edgar Winter trading licks on harmonica and sax respectively.  ‘Just For Fun’ has a very solid syncopated groove in contrast to the tone of the lyric and exemplifies Hartman's production style. On closer ‘Free Ride’ Hartman shows off his deft production skills by taking the hit he wrote for the Edgar Winter Group and changing the rhythmic emphasis to take the track firmly into the dance floor realm.

Hot Shot Records/BBR is proud to present RELIGHT MY FIRE. This expanded and re-mastered edition comes complete with a foreword from mixer John Luongo, extensive liner notes and added bonus material.

Intuition
LINX started out life as a 5-piece Soul and Brit-Funk band. Signed to Chrysalis records, the band released their first single in 1980 titled, YOU'RE LYING which yielded the group a top 20 single reaching #15 on the UK Pop Chart. Shortly before the release of their debut album, the band slimmed down their line up and became a duo consisting of bass player Peter Martin and singer David Grant who has worked with many artists as a backing singer including Diana Ross and The Lighthouse Family. In the Spring of 1981 LINX tasted their next piece of chart success when INTUITION, the title track from the band's 1981 album release, made it into the top 10 scoring a #7 on the UK Pop charts featuring a distinct Caribbean flavour. The follow up single, THROW AWAY THE KEY, is driven by a classic funk bass line and David Grant's effortless vocals glide over the top which returned the group to the UK Pop chart at #21. YOU'RE LYING also gained an impressive #27 US R&B chart position with TOGETHER WE CAN SHINE following suit, securing an R&B top 50 spot. BBR is very proud to present the first ever CD issue of the Brit-Funk classic, INTUITION, in full and expanded form, complete with extensive liner notes that feature an interview with David Grant along with added bonus tracks. Released in deluxe Super Jewel cases this BBR Remaster is a must have for all Brit-Funk, Soul, Disco and R&B fans out there!

"This collection of music of the past (no music of the future; that would be impossible sci-fi) showcases Miles as a top talent who simply needed a firm musical direction.”

-Geoff Barton / Classic Rock May 2012

"With all four singer/songwriter/guitarist John Miles’ Decca albums already released by sister label Lemon, the 7T’s imprint releases one which is arguably stronger than the others, as it rounds up the 17 songs Miles released as singles A- and B-sides during his Decca tenure.”

Love Tracks
Grammy Award winner and Hall of Famer, GLORIA GAYNOR was born on the 7th of September 1949 in Newark, N.J. and sang as young girl in her school choir, mixed chorus and the her school’s girl glee club. While she knew she one day wanted to have a career in music, GLORIA GAYNOR still went to school with the aim of having something to fall back on and studied beauty and business courses.
In 1965 GLORIA GAYNOR released her first solo single titled She’ll Be Sorry with the B-Side Let Me Go Baby on Jocida Records. However, it wasn’t until the 1970’s that Gaynor began to taste real success with the release of her first two albums, Experience and Never Can Say Goodbye, (both available on BBR) that she began to stand out as a unique and recognizable force on the black music scene.
In 1978 GLORIA GAYNOR released her 6th studio album, "LOVE TRACKS” on Polydor Records, now fully remastered and repackaged by BBR!
"LOVE TRACKS” features some of the best musicians of the time including Paulinho Da Costa on percussion and Wah Wah Watson on guitar while production duties were left in the capable hands of Dino Fekaris.
"LOVE TRACKS” contains the million-unit selling chart topper, ‘I Will Survive’, originally a B-side to Gloria’s cover of ‘Substitute’. While ‘Substitute’ still obtained chart success it was ‘I Will Survive’, which quickly gained traction in the clubs, and as a result the record label deleted the 12” single and replaced the album version with the 12” version to boost album sales. Other notable tracks include the US Dance chart top 20 hit ‘Anybody Wanna Party’, which simultaneously climbed all the way to #16 on the US R&B Chart.
BBR is so very proud to announce the release of GLORIA GAYNOR – LOVE TRACKS. Lovingly remastered, this CD comes complete with extensive liner notes including interviews and added bonus content making this BBR Remaster a must have item for all Disco, Soul, Funk and R&B fans out there!
