Burn Bright / The Dancing Marquis - 7" Ltd Edition - Marc Almond

Burn Bright / The Dancing Marquis - 7" Ltd Edition
THE EAGERLY AWAITED NEW MARC ALMOND DOUBLE 'A' SIDE SINGLE

PRODUCED BY TONY VISCONTI

STRICTLY LIMITED EDITION COLLECTABLE FAN EDITION

A PURPLE VINYL 7" GATEFOLD SLEEVE DOUBLE 'A' SIDE SINGLE THAT ALSO CONTAINS A CD SINGLE.

Earlier in 2013, Marc Almond realised the ambition of a lifetime when he attended the first of a few recording sessions with the legendary record producer Tony Visconti, famous for his work with David Bowie, Hazel O'Connor, T-Rex, The Moody Blues and Morrissey among many others.

The first stunning results of their unique collaboration are to be heard on this Double 'A' side single 'Burn Bright' / 'The Dancing Marquis'.

In celebration of the union of these two prodigious talents, Strike Force Entertainment have created a highly collectable limited fans edition. A 7" purple coloured vinyl single in a beautifully designed gatefold sleeve. This vinyl edition also contains the two tracks on a CD single housed on the inside of the gatefold sleeve.

While both tracks are produced and mixed by Tony Visconti, he also arranged the strings on the hearteningly buoyant 'Burn Bright' with Martin Mc Carrick (Siouxsie And The Banshees, Therapy?) arranging the strings on the othertrack, the reflective 'The Dancing Marquis', a song that Marc Almond wrote 'with Henry Paget 5th Marquess of Anglesey in mind'.

Demand will be high for this highly collectable limited edition of 1,000 copies.

Priority

RICHARD PERRY: "Priority is one of my favorite albums. The musicianship is incomparable. That was a great rock and roll band. Those tracks I enjoy as much as anything I've ever done."

RICHARD THOMPSON: "I was so thrilled when the Pointer Sisters covered "Don't Let A Thief Steal Into Your Heart." I thought they did a great job adapting it to their style. Priority remains a classic.”

GRAHAM PARKER: "To see ‘Turned Up Too Late’ recorded by the Pointer Sisters and produced by Richard Perry was more than I could have hoped for. What an honor for me,and what a great job they did.”

TAJ MAHAL: "The Pointer Sisters! The sheer joy and personal excitement I have had in being part of their audience, performing, recording, touring with them, and championing their star-studded career.”

· The trade advertisement appeared for PRIORITY in Billboard magazine on September 15th 1979 proclaiming ‘The Pointer Sisters deliver great Rock & Roll. ‘ Their new album and its title reflected an industry confidence in The Pointer Sisters after Richard Perry redefined their career with 1978’s Energy (CDBBR0105) and the massive hit single ‘Fire’ (Bruce Springsteen). This time Perry returned the Sisters to their harder rock edge, honed when backing up acts like Taj Mahal, Cold Blood, Tower Of Power and Grace Slick earlier in the decade.

· PRIORITY featured the writing talents of Ian Hunter (‘Who Do You Love’), Bob Seger (‘All Your Love’), Stealer’s Wheel (‘Blind Faith’), The Band (‘The Shape I’m In’) and The Rolling Stones (‘Happy’). The album received universally positive reviews but ran into trouble at radio stations that refused to accept a black female group as a rock act at the height of the disco era. Cuts like Richard and Linda Thompsons ‘Don’t Let A Thief Steal Into Your Heart’ and Graham Parkers ‘Turned Up Too Late’, as well as a return to the Springsteen catalogue (‘She’s Got The Fever’) were criminally ignored by programmers. Nonetheless the artistry within PRIORITY ensured a growing fan base for the album which widely regarded as a classic Rock LP.

· BBR is especially proud to release a brand new remaster of PRIORITY which features brand new interviews with Anita Pointer, Ruth Pointer, Richard Perry, Graham Parker and Richard Thompson. PRIORITY is a must for all seventies Rock, Blues and Soul fans.

Black & White: Expanded Edition
· The Pointer Sisters and Richard Perry switched gears in 1980 with the release of Special Things (CDBBR0022) and its massive hit single ‘He’s So Shy’ which landed in both the pop and R&B top ten. Buoyed by this success Perry was once again prepared to take the Sisters back into gold territory, and gave them the biggest selling single and album of their career so far with two Gold Certifications.

· BLACK & WHITE was titled so to reflect the broad musical influences heard in the music of The Pointer Sisters. The album immediately spun off the biggest ever American Pop hit of The Pointer Sisters’ career. ‘Slow Hand’ reached #2 on the Hot 100 and stayed there for three weeks, prevented from reaching the top spot by Diana Ross and Lionel Richie’s mega selling ‘Endless Love.’ As well as returning the group to the R&B top ten in the U.S., it did the same in Canada, many European countries, and at long last, the U.K. The Country-Soul ballad remains an adult contemporary staple on radio stations all over the world to this day.

· ‘Should I Do It’ was issued as the second single in many European countries where it became so successful that it was belatedly issued as a U.S. single, returning them to the pop top 20. Elsewhere on BLACK & WHITE industry heavyweights such as David Foster, Russ Ballard and Patrick Henderson lent their song-writing skills, making the album a Pop/Soul classic from start to finish. As well as being a gold selling album in the U.S. Black And White succeeded all over the world and became the group’s first U.K. hit album reaching #21 for a three month stint in the autumn of 1981.

· BBR is very proud to release this expanded remaster of BLACK & WHITE which now features three bonus tracks - including a track that was removed from the LP just before its release - as well as brand new interviews with Anita Pointer, Ruth Pointer, Richard Perry and David Foster amongst others. BLACK AND WHITE is essential listening for all Eighties Soul and Pop fans out there.
