Battle Hymn: Remastered - Wild Turkey

Battle Hymn: Remastered
· NEWLY REMASTERED EDITION CD OF THIS CLASSIC ALBUM FROM FORMER JETHRO TULL MEMBER GLENN CORNICK’s BAND
· REMASTERED FROM THE ORIGINAL MASTER TAPES
· BOOKLET WITH FULLY RESTORED ARTWORK & ESSAY

ESOTERIC RECORDINGS are pleased to announce the release of a newly remastered CD edition of the classic first album by WILD TURKEY, "Battle Hymn”.

Former JETHRO TULL bassist Glenn Cornick formed Wild Turkey after departing Tull in 1971. The initial line-up of the band featured Glenn Cornick (bass), Graham Williams (guitar), Alan "Tweke” Lewis (guitar), John "Pugwash” Weathers (drums) and Gary Pickford-Hopkins (vocals). Before recording their first album, Weathers and Williams departed the fold to be replaced by Jon Blackmore (guitar & vocals) and Jeff Jones (drums). The album "Battle Hymn” was released by Chrysalis Records in 1971 and was well received by fans and critics alike.

Unavailable officially on CD for over fifteen years, this classic album has been newly remastered from the original Chrysalis master tapes and features a booklet that restores the original album artwork and a new essay.

Songs For The Gentleman
Cherry Red are pleased to present Bridget St John, who was one of the first acts signed to John Peel's legendary Dandelion Records, and her first three albums with several bonus tracks that are appearing on CD for the first time. The first two albums feature John Martyn playing guitar on some tracks, but all of these albums have become very collectable with 'Ask Me No Questions' changing hands for over £100 recently These CDs contain detailed sleeve notes written by Nigel Cross in cooperation with Bridget; she was also involved with selecting the bonus tracks. Bridget is still working live and records from time to time.

Mantle Pieces
Released on 22/03/10. The eighth in our series of Clifford T. Ward releases. Mantle Pieces was originally released on Charisma Records in 1973 and was Clifford's 3rd solo album. The album has not been available on CD for almost 20 years. The album contains one of his best loved singles Scullery. The CD includes two bonus tracks: the single Jayne (from Andromeda Spiral), + its b/side Maybe I'm Right. Clifford's reputation as a singer/songwriter lives on. His very active fan club "The Friends Of Clifford T. Ward" whose patron is Sir Tim Rice, support all attempts to promote the aims and works of Clifford T. Ward. Through their excellent website, they very much keep alive his extensive catalogue of work, spanning his career of 40 plus years. As a testament to his timeless genius, in June 2002, Clifford finished above The Beatles in a BBC Radio 2 poll on the best music released during the Queen's reign. Unfortunately Clifford wasn't around to witness this as he sadly died in December 2001 at the age of 57 Our Price: £9.95

October
The possessor of one of the finest voices in popular music, Claire Hamill signed to Island records at the age of 16, recording two albums which featured contributions from John Martyn, Free & Terry Reid. 'October' is Claire's second album, a masterpiece of folk rock and the art of songwriting and features music of both innocence and maturity. Produced by Paul Samwell Smith (who had recently worked with Cat Stevens), 'October' is a highlight of Claire's early career and is certain to appeal to those who appreciate the art of the singer songwriter. The Esoteric reissue includes 'Baby What's Wrong' as a bonus tracks. With her songs covered by Eva Cassidy and cited by Kate Bush as an influence, this reissue is the first part of a programme that sees the reissuing of Claire's work by Esoteric Recordings. A Story Ended – Expanded Edition
Released 29/06/09. Recorded in April 1972, 'A Story Ended' was the debut solo album by Colosseum saxophonist Dick Heckstall-Smith. A superb example of Jazz influenced Progressive rock, the album appeared on Bronze Records in 1972 and is now hailed as a classic of the genre. Fat Mattress – Expanded Edition
Released 29/06/09. Recorded in 1969, 'Fat Mattress' was the eponymous debut album by the band formed by Jimi Hendrix Experience bass guitarist Noel Redding. Recorded in late 1968 / early 1969, the album evoked the influences of the time, touching upon styles pioneered by groups such as Traffic (whose member Chris Wood guested on the record). A superb piece of Psychedelic rock in its own right, 'Fat Mattress' failed to get the attention it deserved at the time of release (despite a tour as support act to the Hendrix Experience) but has subsequently been hailed as a classic of the era. This Esoteric reissue has eight bonus tracks comprising non-album singles, mono mixes, studio out-takes and an unreleased solo single by FAT MATTRESS' Jim Leverton. Our Price: £10.95
