Jermaine Stewart hailed from the mid-west of the USA and became a successful solo singer after spells as a dancer on the renowned US TV show Soul Train, a brief stint with Shalamar and backing vocalist on Culture Club's 1983 album "Colour By Numbers". It is reported that the band introduced Jermaine to Arista supremo Clive Davis and a deal was done. Jermaine Stewart released 4 original US albums (3 in the UK) and enjoyed chart success, both single and album between 1983-1990. Tragically Jermaine Stewart died in 1997.

Paisley Dreams: The Pop Psych Sounds Of….
Released 24/11/08. On that vital cusp of 1966/67, it seemed everybody wanted to make their very own Pet Sounds-style masterwork... and Bubblegum-meister Tommy Roe was no exception. Coming off a formidable run of hits, Roe was able to enter the studio with Millenium wunderkind Curt Boettcher and his team (later to become both The Ballroom and Goldenrod) to record it's now winter's day. Bizarrely sounding more like a group effort than a solo album, replete with theremins, fuzz guitar, strings and general psych bendiness, not to mention being entirely composed by Roe, it was a major triumph. The follow-up Phantasy upped the ante even further. Here we have both albums, together for the first time, a key piece in the story of the legendary Curt Boettcher and his associates, and a Californian sunshine psych-pop extravaganza in it's own right. Beautiful songs, great singing and innovative production... who could ask for anything more? Our Price: £9.95

Be A Winner- Expanded Edition
Yarbrough & Peoples first set airwaves alight when their futuristic hit, Don’t Stop The Music shot to #1 on the R&B charts. Following the success of their first single they recorded numerous hit singles on Total Experience Records throughout the 80’s. Yarbrough & Peoples consisted of childhood friends Cavin Yarbrough and Alisa Peoples who met while going to the same piano teacher as children and attending the same local church in Dallas, Texas. Cavin Yarbrough started his career as a singer and keyboardist for a group called Grand Theft and one night while he was performing, the Wilson brothers, founders of The Gap Band, were in the audience and offered Cavin a job as a background vocalist on the Leon Russell tour that they were a part of. Soon after returning to Dallas, Alisa Peoples sang with Grand Theft and once again at a gig in Dallas, The Gap Band, signed to Total Experience Records by this point introduced them to label owner and producer, Lonnie Simmons. The Result of this introduction was to be four hit albums and numerous hit singles until the labels demise in the late 80s. BBR brings you Yarbrough & Peoples third offering on Total Experience Records, 1984s Be A Winner. Produced by Cavin Yarbrough with Jonah Ellis and Oliver Scott, BE A WINNER yielded another #1 R&B single for the group with Don’t Waste Your Time garnering the top spot in the spring of 84 and went on to become a popular dance hit getting to #11 on the Dance charts and by the summer the title track on the LP had gained a #20 R&B chart position.

The Gap Band VI
THE GAP BAND enjoyed huge success throughout the 70s and 80s with their unique sound and contribution to the Funk scene. Formed in 1967 in their hometown of Tulsa, Oklahoma, brothers Charlie, Ronnie and Robert Wilson first went by the name Greenwood, Archer and Pine Street Band later shortening the name to THE GAP BAND in 1973. LA Producer, Lonnie Simmons, signed them to his label, Total Experience Records, setting in motion what would be the start of a long and prosperous relationship between THE GAP BAND and Simmons.

Notable hits include their top ten hit Shake, the breakthrough single from The Gap Band II, I Don't Believe You Want To Get Up And Dance (Oops!) and the number one R&B hit Early In The Morning taken from their 1982 #1 R&B album The Gap Band IV. 1985 brought the release of THE GAP BAND VI and with it the band soared back to the top of the R&B album chart with the chosen singles also enjoying impressive chart positions.
