Attitude - Rip Rig & Panic

Attitude
Named after a Roland Kirk album, RIP RIG + PANIC were one of the most exciting bands of the 1980s, fusing funk, jazz, punk and world music influences into a unique whole.
With lead singer NENEH CHERRY, the band recorded three albums for Virgin Records which have never been legitimately available on CD.
All three LPs are now remastered from the original master tapes with a raft of bonus tracks taken from non-album singles.
Original band members Gareth Sager (ex-Pop Group) and Mark Springer are involved with these releases, with the blessing of Neneh Cherry and (current PiL) drummer Bruce Smith.
Issued in 1983, ATTITUDE was RIP RIG + PANIC’s third and final album. It’s now swelled by the non-album singles ‘Do The Tightrope’ and ‘Beat The Beast’ plus various B-sides and alternative mixes.

Guiding the production of these reissues, Mark Springer is still heavily involved in the world of music and art. More information can be found at www.markspinger.net and www.exit.co.uk

Dreams Interrupted
Glaxo Babies were the fore-runners of a wave of Bristol music that spawned The Pop Group, Rip Rig & Panic, Maximum Joy & Pigbag, who all became household names as the jagged edged angst movement quickly gathered respect throughout the world. A firm favourite with John Peel, the Glaxo's soon notched up their first session following on from the highly acclaimed first release - the 12" This your Life EP which included the classic "Who Killed Bruce Lee". Always underrated but never dismissed, they fought back with the blistering Christine Keeler 45 often sighted as the bands finest moment. This collection spans their career, illustrating just how unique and original the Glaxos were, and how their relevance seems ever present with today's jagged edged sounds. Our Price: £9.95

Cutting Edge Retro: A Mood Six Anthology
Neo-psychedelic combo Mood Six was formed in London's West End in 1982; emerging from the remnants of mod revival groups like the Merton Parkas and the VIP's, their original line-up included Phil Ward, Tony Conway, Andy Godfrey, Guy Morley, Paul Shurey, and Simon Smith. Debuting with a pair of tracks on the "A Splash of Colour" compilation, the group immediately launched itself to the forefront of the short-lived British psychedelia revival. Signing to EMI, Mood Six issued their first official single, "Hanging Around", but were dismissed from the label when the follow-up, "She's Too Far (Out)", proved a commercial disappointment. This anthology double-album gives no emphasis to the early period but begins from 1984, when the false glitter and pretence was stripped away and a more honest band emerged. Cherry Red Records have carefully reproduced the majority of their creative output, which includes three albums: "The Difference Is..." (Psycho 1985); "A Matter Of" (Cherry Red 1986); "And This Is It" (Lost Recording Co 1993); several singles and a bunch of odds and ends, (including two new tracks: "A Perfect World" and "Misunderstandings" - these tracks are the strange fruits of a series of songwriting and demo-ing sessions held in a north London flat in 2002) We're happy to introduce this unique package and are confident of receiving good press and radio exposure. Mood Six "Cutting Edge Retro: A Mood Six Anthology" is another fantastic package from the prolific Cherry Red Records. A double-album anthology featuring album tracks, singles, b-sides, rarities and 2 brand new, previously unreleased songs. Our Price: £9.95

Samurai
Samurai' is truly a lost classic of the Progressive era. Released on the short lived Greenwich Gramophone label in 1972, the album was influenced by the experiments of groups such as King Crimson, Gentle Giant et al, but was more than a mere clone of these bands. Evolving from the equally excellent band Web (whose album 'I Spider' is a classic of the genre), the musicianship on the album was excellent and Keyboard player Dave Lawson's compositions were groundbreaking and memorable. Sadly the group disbanded shortly after the release of the record resulting in limited sales. However, the influence of the album was not lost as both Dave Lawson and Tony Reeves soon joined Dave Greenslade to form the group Greenslade, effectively taking up the musical mantle laid down by Samurai. This Esoteric reissue features a booklet with previously unseen photographs and an interview with Dave Lawson. Our Price: £10.95
