Wendy and Lisa - Wendy & Lisa

Wendy and Lisa
Having brought their esoteric funk leanings to Prince & The Revolution through their purple reign in the early 80s, Wendy Melvoin and Lisa Coleman split to pursue their own maverick musical path in 1986. Their self-titled debut saw the duo (who recently won their first Emmy for the soundtrack to hit US drama ‘Nurse Jackie’) at their most creatively daring and typically eclectic – ranging from Minneapolis funk to jazz fusion and acoustic balladry.
Included on this Special Edition CD of 15 remastered tracks are:
The original 1987 album containing the singles ‘Waterfall’, ‘Sideshow’ and ‘Honeymoon Express’, written and produced by Wendy & Lisa with Bobby Z. Includes guest appearance by veteran jazz saxophonist Tom Scott. A must-have for all Prince fans.
Bonus tracks include hard-to-find 12” mixes of all the album’s singles.

A comprehensive booklet featuring discography and an exclusive interview and track-by-track review by Lisa Coleman with ex-Attitude editor Adam Mattera.

Bagpipe Music
Bagpipe Music - an album first released in 1981 to high critical acclaim from artists hailed as the "worlds first poetry dance band"… The Art Objects. The brainchild of Bristol poet Gerard Langley and the pre-cursor to his current band The Blue Aeroplanes, this album was the first time poetry and music had been uniquely fused together in such a way that even John Cooper Clark would envy. A collection of "brilliant images and stunning sounds that nothing else comes close to" yelled the music press. Even Radio One woke up and offered daytime airplay to the single "Showing off to Impress the Girls". The Art Objects had arrived, four of Bristols' finest musicians providing the perfect backdrop for Gerards' words - words that speak for themselves, but only if you're prepared to listen - and now you can, this time on CD for the first time, with four extra previously unreleased tracks. Wings Of Joy
Originally released in 1991, the seminal debut from The Cranes, Portsmouth’s most important band, sees its first re-issue on Cherry Red. The album features 7 bonus tracks that accompanied the original release, 4 of which were on a limited edition CD and 3 that were available only as a limited edition 12" with the vinyl version. The CD booklet includes the band's UK Discography from their most productive period when signed to the Dedicated label. The artwork features the original sleeve and new liner notes telling the story of the band's creation, to signing their deal with Dedicated and includes excerpts of the original press reviews of the album from the NME and Melody Maker. Cranes remain a unique band in the modern history of the UK's serious music scene. They were an antidote to the bland and contrived acts that peppered the charts at the time, their experimental approach to making music has a lasting credibility that is still relevant today.
