Save Your Prayers - Waysted

Save Your Prayers
Pete Way was the original bass guitarist and founder member of British hard rockers UFO. In 1982, after making 10 studio LPs with UFO since their 1969 start, Pete left, initially to play bass with Ozzy Osbourne as well as briefly forming Fastway with Motorhead’s "Fast” Eddie Clarke. Then in 1983 he formed Waysted.
After releasing their debut album "Vices” in 1983 on Chrysalis, before switching to Music For Nations for the release of "Waysted” (1984) and "The Good The Bad And The Waysted” (1985), the band signed to EMI’s Parlophone label in 1986 for the release of "Save Your Prayers”.
The album is now expanded to include the non-album b-side ‘Fire Under The Wheels’ plus 7” single edits of ‘Black & Blue’ and the new version of the Waysted classic ‘Heaven Tonight’, available on CD for the first time.
The set features a brand new essay from Classic Rock and Metal Hammer’s Malcolm Dome commissioned for this set.

Shaving Peaches
· Originally known as the Spoilt Bratz, Bardford’s Terrorvision (named after an 80s US comedy horror movie) singed to EMI Records in 1991 under their very own imprint label, Total Vegas Recordings. Their single, ‘My House’ from debut album, Formaldehyde (1993) gained favourable Top 30 chart action and it was no looking back for the party-rock-four-piece of Tony Wright (vocals), Leigh Marklew (Bass), Mark Yates (Guitar) and Ian "Shutty” Shuttleworth (drums).
· With regular UK Single chart action for tracks such as, ‘Alice What’s The Matter’ (#24), ‘Oblivion’ (#21) and ‘Middle Man’ (#25) from their EMI sophomore album, How To Make Friends And Influence People and ‘Perseverance’ (#5) and ‘Bad Actress’ (#10) from third album, Regular Urban Survivors,Terrorvision were also becoming known for their ‘never fail to satisfy’ live performances and in so doing became the default festival band during this mid 90s period.
· Third album Shaving Peaches was released in October 1998 and saw the band employ four different producers, including Edwyn Collins (Orange Juice) and the Utah Saints. The result took the Terrorvision sound into some previously un-charted territory with a more pop-oriented collection of songs. This drew mixed responses from the critics and their by now well-established fan-base, however, when Radio 1 DJ Zoe Ball began regularly airing one of the single b-side remixes of ‘Tequila’, EMI rush released the version as an a-side single, the result of which saw the track reach the number 2 position in the UK Singles chart, the band’s highest ever chart placing.
· Fully Re-Mastered and Expanded Collector’s Edition.
· Adds 12-track second disc of single b-sides and alternative versions compiled chronologically as ‘B-Sides & Mixers’ with 3 versions of the UK No. 2 single, ‘Tequila’.
· Comprehensive story of the album sleeve-notes.
· Visually packed 12 page booklet featuring rare photos and memorabilia images from the period.

Vices
Pete Way was the original bass guitarist and founder member of British hard rockers UFO. In 1982, after making 10 studio LPs with UFO since their 1969 start, Pete left initially to play bass on Ozzy Osbourne’s "Talk Of The Devil” tour as well as briefly forming Fastway with Motorhead’s "Fast” Eddie Clarke. Both were short lived, as in 1983 he formed Waysted.
Featuring Fin Muir on lead vocals, Ronnie Kayfield on lead guitar, former UFO and MSG member Paul Raymond on rhythm guitar, keyboards and backing and Frank Noon on drums, their debut LP was originally issued on UFO’s label Chrysalis Records.
Featuring Waysted classics ‘Love Loaded’, ‘Women in Chains’ plus a cover of ‘Somebody to Love’.
The final album was mixed at the Townhouse studios, but research in the Chrysalis archives revealed six songs which had been previously mixed at Maison Rouge studios; ‘Love Loaded’, ‘Sleazy’, ‘Night Of The Wolf’, ‘Right From The Start’, ‘All Belongs To You’ and ‘Somebody To Love’. These unique versions appear on CD for the very first time.
The set features a brand new essay from Classic Rock and Metal Hammer’s Malcolm Dome commissioned for this set.

Head On
Although best known today as the band where lead vocalist Bruce Dickinson served his Metal apprenticeship prior to joining those eater of worlds, Iron Maiden, Samson are still rightly regarded as one of the pivotal bands from the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal movement of the 80s.
Taking their name from guitarist and leader, Paul Samson, the band first emerged in 1977 from the ashes of another eponymously named band, McCoy whose leader bassist John McCoy was headhunted for Ian Gillans’s eponymously named band, Gillan, following the vocalist’s departure from Deep Purple.
‘Head On’ was Samson’s second album released in June 1980 and along with Paul Samson and Bruce Dickinson (although then going by his stage name Bruce Bruce), bassist Chris Aylmer and drummer Thunderstick (noted for disguising his identity by wearing S&M masks and playing live in a steel cage), completed the line-up.
In deference to the crass cover artwork, the album boasts a breadth of writing and playing ability above much that the NOWBHM movement had to offer. Tracks such as ‘Vice Versa’, ‘Hunted’ and ‘Walking Out On You’ helped the album achieve the band’s highest ever chart placing of number 34. ‘Head On’ also displays perfectly the power and range of singer Dickinson whose vocal agility earned him the title, the Air Raid Siren, as well as showcasing Paul Samson’s considerable talent as a guitarist and writer and reinforces the loss to the metal community due to his death from cancer in 2002, aged just 49.
· Fully Re-mastered Collector’s Edition of Samson’s second album, one of the NWOBHMs premier outfits.
· Expanded to include 2 bonus tracks.
· 16 page booklet with story of the album sleeve-note and rare photos and images from the period.
