Bostin Steve Austin 2CD - We've Got A Fuzzbox And We're Gonna Use It!!

Bostin Steve Austin 2CD
Field #41 not in Database

At long last, the debut long-player from the mighty We've Got A Fuzzbox And We're Gonna Use It!! makes its Compact Disc debut in "Splendiferous" form on Cherry Red Records. Hailing from Birmingham, England, the punk-pop, all-female quartet, also known simply as Fuzzbox first made their mark on the nation when their debut single ‘XX Sex/Rules and Regulations’ stormed the UK indie charts reaching the coveted Indie #1 spot in 1986 for a staggering 9 week stint.

Cited as a "Loud, gaudy and mildly controversial both visually and aurally, with a willful raw amateurishness to theirplaying..." the band soon earned the respect of influential publications such as the NME, Melody Maker as well as recognition from DJ's Janice Long and the late, great John Peel. This 2CD/AA Sided "Splendiferous Edition" of the bands seminal classic "Bostin' Steve Austin" marks the album’s first CD release, some 27 years after its premiere on Vindaloo/WEA Records."Side A" features the original 12 track studio album, digitally remastered from its original analogue master tapes, whilst"Side AA" offers a comprehensive insight into the formative Fuzzbox years compiling 22 of the bands most rare and sought after recordings.Bonus materials include the bands debut EP "XX Sex/Rules and Regulations" [UK #41], collaboration single with Vindaloolabel mates, The Nightingales and Ted Chippington,‘Rockin' With Rita (Head To Toe)’[UK #56], B-sides from their UK Top 40 breakthrough single ‘Love Is The Slug’ [UK #31] and 7' follow-up ‘What's The Point’ [UK #51], their fuzz-tastic rendition of Queen's timeless classic ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’, the fan club rarity ‘Radio Fuzzbox’, together with single exclusiveB-sides, 12-inch versions andthe previously unreleased ‘XX Sex (Gully Mix)’ and ‘Light Of The Silvery Moon’.Having taken the indie world by storm Fuzzbox went on to release their second album "Big Bang!" [UK #5] in the summer of 1989, boasting the hit singles ‘International Rescue’ [UK #11], ‘Pink Sunshine’ [UK #14] and ‘Self!’ [UK #24], before disbanding in 1990.

The deluxe CD booklet features sleeve notes from the bands drummer Tina, complete with original and expanded artwork, featuring: single sleeve art, lyrics and rare promotional materials.

Killer Album
Released on 11th OCTOBER 2010. 1990 they shifted the nucleus of UK rap away from the capital to their native Manchester, offering a thinking man's alternative to the indie-dance of Happy Mondays and Stone Roses.

Their debut LP, KILLER ALBUM, reflected the black British experience in a unique, often poignant way. All the way live from the notoriousNorth Hulme estate, the trio of Anderson, Carson and a pre-Black Grape Kermit eschewed the phony Brooklyn accents of many London contemporaries for a hardbitten, sometimes bitter but always razor sharp trawl through the harsh realities of low-budget living packed with depth, humour and social comment. Using a sampledelic approach incorporating elements of rock, reggae, pop and jazz segued by producer Greg Wilson their open embrace of diversity has haunted the grooves of countless acts to flow in their wake. The 20th anniversary edition of KILLER ALBUM comes with extensive liner notes and rare photos.

24K
The Band of Joy are best known as the outfit that gave Robert Plant and John Bonham their leg-up on the stairway to Zeppelin. While that unrecorded line-up relied on its live reputation to become a Midlands legend, a revised Band of Joy finally made it to the studio in the late 1970s, having re-grouped to play benefit gigs for the families of a local band involved in a fatal motorway crash.

The eponymous album which followed was reissued in the Summer of 2005 by Cherry Red (Band Of Joy - CDMRED 281) The band were Paul Lockey on vocals, Kevyn Gammond on guitar, Mike Chetwood on keyboards, John Pasternak on bass and Francesco Nizza on drums. This second album was recorded for Polydor but was never released by them. There was also the problem that Robert Plant saw the band's name as his and told the record company that they shouldn't use it. ‘24K’ eventually emerged through the independent Thunderbolt label after the group had split in 1979. Keyboard player Chetwood went on to join T’Pau and Kevyn Gammond and Robert Plant linked up again in the late 1990s in ‘fun’ band Priory of Bryon. When Robert Plant's ‘Best Of’ album ‘Sixty Six To Timbuktu’ emerged in 2003 there were two of the original Band of Joy demos on it.

Night People
Classix Nouveaux were one of the leading lights of the new romantic scene from the early 1980's. Formed from the ashes of the punk band X-Ray Spex, the band were fronted by the bald headed Sal Solo and they went on to enjoy success with 8 chart singles. This album reached the top 50 on release in 1982 and has never been on CD before plus includes rare bonus tracks! This album has been in great demand from fans of the bands, both new and old, and we have great delight in re-issuing it on CD for the first time! Classix Nouveaux's contemporaries include Visage and Ultravox though the band's own musical identity was built on harder guitar driven material rather than the synth based sound that was so common at the time. Seduction
The Danse Society were a very special band formed in the early 1980's. They experimented musically with sound and attitude and released their music through their own label, Society Records, a very bold move at that time. During the eighties, the Danse Society created a reputation for lush and atmospheric sounds that separated them from the rest of the gothic scene at the time. The innovative and creative use of keyboards was the element gave the band their distinctive sound. This is a collection of Danse Society's material from their early and most respected days on their own Society label. The backbone for the album is the ultra rare and collectable 'Seduction' album that was released in 1982 along with tracks from their highly acclaimed 12 singles Somewhere/ Hide and Woman's Own. Other tracks include their first single Clock with classics These Frayed Eyes and The Seduction also featured. All featured titles are available on CD for the first time. The CD features the original 'Seduction' LP cover along with the other sleeves from the Society Records period. Sleeve notes have been written by Danse Society keyboardist, Lyndon Scarfe and also included is a complete discography of the band.
