· REMASTERED FROM THE ORIGINAL MASTER TAPES
· WITH TWO BONUS TRACKS
· BOOKLET WITH FULLY RESTORED ARTWORK & NEW ESSAY
Esoteric Recordings are pleased to announce a new remastered edition of the classic 1971 debut album by TIR NA NOG. Formed in Dublin in 1969, the duo travelled to London to make a name for themselves on the UK folk circuit, earning a contract with Chrysalis Records in 1970. Securing a support slot with Jethro Tull, TIR NA NOG came to the attention of a rock audience. The duo became a fixture on the concert circuit, opening for acts such as The Who, Elton John and Procol Harum and were also championed by John Peel. In 1971 their self-titled debut album was released to acclaim, thanks to the wonderfully diverse compositions and music featured. TIR NA NOG was one of the most original and inspiring acts of their era.
This Esoteric Recordings reissue has been newly remastered from the original CHRYSALIS RECORDS master tapes and features two bonus tracks drawn from the band’s first single and a booklet that fully restores all original album artwork with a new essay.

Singing The Songs Of Paul Ryan 1968-69
When Paul and Barry Ryan split as a performing duo in 1968 nobody expected to hear from them again. Their fine Britpop singles and overlooked semi-Freakbeat/Pop albums weren't selling, they were trapped on a cabaret circuit they loathed. The image of the handsome swinging, singing twin brothers was under severe strain. So when Barry reappeared at the end of the year and scored a colossal worldwide hit (reaching number one in six countries!) with the epic, Paul-penned "Eloise" it was akin to a particularly unlikely phoenix rising from the ashes. The single was a stunning five and a half minute tour de force of grandiose orchestral pop and Uber-Jim Webb-ism which sounded unlike anything else in the charts at the time, and is fondly remembered and covered worldwide still!

The subsequent entirely Paul-penned album, imaginatively entitled Barry Ryan Sings Paul Ryan, received rave reviews and has become something of a cult favourite amongst fans of contemporary orch-pop works by Scott Walker, Glen Campbell and even Tom Jones. Other hits including "Love Is Love" and "The Hunt" followed into the '70s, as did five more solo albums, none of which have ever been reissued on CD.... until now! "Barry Ryan: Singing The Songs Of Paul Ryan (1968-69)" couples that classic debut with its remarkable eponymous 1969 follow-up and adds two ultra-rare tracks found only on the German version of the second album, all remastered for your sonic delight! It also features in-depth liner notes containing new interview material with Barry, previously unseen photographs, rare cuttings and memorabilia. A great rediscovery awaits

It's Been a Long Long Time
·       Not only were The Hep Stars Sweden’s biggest band in the Sixties, they were where Benny Andersson first tasted success before achieving world-wide fame with ABBA. Without The Hep Stars, there would have been no ABBA.
·       It's Been A Long Long Time was The Hep Stars’ fourth album, released in February 1968 and not issued outside Sweden. It was their only album for the Cupol label and RPM International adds the only non-album single the band issued on the label. RPM International’s reissue is the first time the album has been released in Europe outside Sweden.
·       The sought-after and rare It's Been A Long Long Time is a classic, harmony filled sunshine pop album. It was recorded in London in 1967 with producer Steve Clark, the associate of legendary American songwriter and singer Curt Boettcher. With Clark, The Hep Stars were the first to record Boettcher’s songs "Another Time” and "Would You Like To Go”, later released in America by Sagittarius. Other songs on It's Been A Long Long Time had been recorded in America by The Association and The Ballroom.
·       A missing link in the story of ABBA, The Hep Stars’ It's Been A Long Long Time would be a legendary album even if the band didn’t feature Benny Andersson.

Like We Used To: The Anthology 1965-1967
In the 1960s, The Hep Stars were Sweden’s biggest band – inspiring screams and Beatles-like devotion. For the first time outside Sweden, Like We Used To: The Anthology 1965-1967 collects them at their peak, from being one of the era’s wildest bands – emphasised on the live tracks – to performers of affecting songs with a yearning atmosphere.

The band’s songwriter Benny Andersson later achieved global fame with ABBA and Like We Used To features classic early compositions, including the first-ever song he wrote. Also collected is a rare early collaboration with his future ABBA companion Björn Ulvaeus – the first song they wrote together.

Tracks are taken direct from the master tapes as they were meant to be heard in the Sixties – in the original mono. There is no after-the-fact stereo. Exploring the original masters turned up versions of songs either not issued at the time or released in territories beyond Sweden, including three versions intended for, but not used for, English release.

Like We Used To: The Anthology 1965-1967 complements RPM International’s reissue of The Hep Stars’ 1968 album It's Been A Long Long Time (Retro 935).

The fully illustrated booklet includes an exclusive interview with The Hep Stars' charismatic frontman Svenne Hedlund. Like We Used To: The Anthology 1965-1967 is essential for any fan of the best music from the Sixties. And also essential for any fan of ABBA.

N.B: This title is released March 23 and will not be dispatched before his date.
