Light Of The World - Light Of The World

LIGHT OF THE WORLD were a forerunner of the late seventies and early eighties British Jazz-Funk movement and took their name from Kool & The Gang’s 1974 album Light Of Worlds. Band members Wellington, Baptiste and McKreith later went onto become Beggar and Co. and also worked with Spandau Ballet on their UK #3 hit ‘Chant No. 1 (Don’t Need This Pressure)’.

LIGHT OF THE WORLD, released in 1979 on Ensign, was their first of five albums; their final album appeared a whole twenty years later. LIGHT OF THE WORLD was produced by Vincent Castellano who later went on to produce the likes of Grand Master Flash.

SWINGIN’ was the first single from LIGHT OF THE WORLD which reached #45 in the UK charts and was a massive dance-floor hit.

MIDNIGHT GROOVIN’ peaked at #75 in the UK charts but was just as successful in the clubs as SWINGIN’.

Released in deluxe Super Jewel cases, with bonus tracks, LIGHT OF THE WORLD is a must for all Funk and Soul fans out there!

		Released on 21/06/10. The very sought after reissue of A Flock Of Seagulls' 2nd and most successful album Listen. This 15 track CD, features the 10 original tracks of the album plus 5 bonus tracks. This CD is much sought after, changing hands for very high prices on the second hand market. The album peaked at number 16 in the UK album charts. Originally released in 1983, the album contains 4 singles, Wishing (If I Had A Photograph Of You), Nightmares, Transfer Affection and (It's Not Me) Talking. Quazar
		QUAZAR were a ten-piece funk group hailing from New Jersey. This was their only album release coming out in 1978. They were led by former P-Funk vocalist Glenn Goins who unfortunately died shortly before the release. This led to the demise of the band and less funk for the masses. Before they split they supported the likes of Roy Ayers and Cameo. QUAZAR featured Keyboard player Greg Fitz who has also played with Bootsy Collins. The bass player, Eugene "Moochie” Jackson, went onto write songs for Evelyn "Champagne” King and Odyssey as well as being a member of the classic eighties funk outfit Slave. FUNK ‘N’ ROLL (DANCIN’ IN THE FUNKSHINE) was the first single from QUAZAR and peaked at R&B #11. It is a true Bootsy-esque funk classic with a Gospel twist. FUNK WITH A BIG FOOT was the follow up single and is an old school Philly block party classic that’s sure to get any party started. 		Mystic Merlin were originally known as Mystic Merlin’s Magic Band and used to incorporate magic tricks into their live shows, they later dropped this gimmick and were taken seriously on the Soul and Dance Scene. Main vocals in Mystic Merlin were occasionally provided by Freddie Jackson who went onto have a hugely successful solo career with ten R&B #1 singles as well as seven R&B top ten hits. MYSTIC MERLIN was the band’s first album released in 1980 on Capitol Records. It was produced by Charles Kipp following his work with David Ruffin, Gladys Knight & The Pips, Melba Moore, Aretha Franklin and Johnny Nash.
