Denmark was already cool before The
Killing and Borgen. Julian Cope
said Young Flowers’s "The Moment Life Appeared”, from their first album was,
"magical”. He also praised their "totally full on freakout style” and pointed
to them as precursors of Krautrock.
Take Warning: The
Complete Studio Recordings is the first time all of Young Flowers’s recordings have been brought
together and anthologises both their albums, their non-album debut single,
contributions to the film soundtrack Quiet
Days In Clichy and a trio of live tracks which show how raw they could be.
This is the Denmark of 1967-1969 at its freakiest.
Young Flowers formed in summer 1967. They headlined Copenhagen’s
Festival of the Flower Children in September 1967.
The first Danish hippy band, the first Danish rock band to sing in their
native language and the first Danish band to play the States; they were
pioneers.
Members later played with the legendary Culpeper’s Orchard and Savage
Rose. They immediately hit big with debut album Blomsterpistolen (Flower Gun), recorded as the soundtrack to
surreal TV series.
A trio, and although influenced by Cream and The Jimi Hendrix
Experience, their intense music had an experimental edge. They set Walt
Whitman's poetry to music. The definitive, band-approved, collection, Take Warning: The Complete Studio Recordings
is a tribute to a unique band.

During their most commercially successful years, Heatwave were a band that crossed many borders, laying claim to such international hits as Boogie Nights , Gangsters Of The Groove, Too Hot To Handle, The Groove Line and Always And Forever, all having a huge impact on both sides of the Atlantic. The members of Heatwave hailed from all over the Globe, making this group a truly international act in every sense and contributing to their unique and highly influential sound.
Having already enjoyed great success with their first two albums, 1979 saw the release of Heatwave's third Top Twenty R&B album Hot Property. With Rod Temperton about to provide his contributions to Michael Jackson’s Off The Wall, he continued to write songs for Heatwave under the production of Phil Ramone. Ramone had already worked with artists such as Barbara Streisand, Burt Bacharach and Paul Simon, picking up where Barry Blue left off and helping Heatwave attain another Gold selling album in the USA.
The first USA single Eyeballin returned Heatwave to the US R&B top 30. British audiences were treated to the laid back groove of the hit Razzle Dazzle. BBR is proud to introduce this newly re-mastered edition featuring extensive liner notes with interviews from the band members and added bonus content including the fan favourite Birthday, a non-LP B-side

During their most commercially successful years, Heatwave were a band that crossed many borders, laying claim to such international hits as Boogie Nights, Too Hot To Handle, The Groove Line, Eyballin', and Always And Forever, all having a huge impact on both sides of the Atlantic. Heatwave’s fourth album, Candles, saw Johnnie Wilder Jr take on the producers role alongside James Guthrie, best known for his work with Pink Floyd, returning to work with Heatwave since serving as an engineer on both Too Hot To Handle and Central Heating.
Fresh off his success of contributions to Michael Jackson’s Off The Wall album, Rod Temperton remained the bands chief songwriter penning a total of five tracks including hit single, Gangsters Of The Groove which provided Heatwave with further R&B chart success reaching #21 and gaining a top 20 UK pop spot accompanied by an early foray into music video. Further hits include the touching, R&B, Doo Wop flavoured single, Where Did I Got Wrong and the Rod Temperton penned UK Top 40 single Jitterbuggin, both of which helped drive this album into the UK Pop and US R&B Top 30

Stronger Than Ever -Expanded Edition |

Rose Royce originally formed in 1973 under the name Total Concept Unlimited and following tours of England and Japan with Edwin Starr fell under the influence of Norman Whitfield, Motown’s ‘psychedelic shaman’ who took them under his wing when he parted company with Motown.Their first commercial success under the Rose Royce moniker was on the soundtrack to the highly successful motion picture Car Wash. Throughout their career which produced evergreen hits such as Car Wash, I Wanna Get Next To You, Love Don’t Live Here Anymore and Is It Love You’re After, Rose Royce have maintained a well established fanbase throughout their career.Stronger Than Ever proves that Rose Royce were certainly plenty strong at this point in their career, working with a tight modern soul groove on Epic Records, away from their previous placement on the Whitfield label, even though Norman Whitfield's still very actively handling production here.As well as being a hit in the R&B charts the single Best Love made the top 20 in the Netherlands with the album making the top 30.
Press:-
"It’s a fine mix of ballads
(Sometimesy Lady) and dancefloor cuts, namely Best Love and Still In Love, the
latter redolent of Rod Temperton’s work with Michael Jackson.”

One Step Closer |

The mighty mighty Dells enjoyed an amazing run of hits, starting in 1956
with ‘Oh What A Night’ and continuing from 1966 to 1974 with Cadet Records (the
Chess subsidiary). Following stints with
Mercury, ABC and 20th Century, the quintet signed with the
L.A.-based Private I Records in 1984.
ONE STEP CLOSER was the group’s only album for the label. Primary producers for the project were Chuck
Jackson & Marvin Yancy who had provided a run of hits for Natalie Cole
among others.
Other producers on the album included guitarist David Williams (who had
worked on the road with The Dells and whose credits included sessions with
Michael Jackson and Herbie Hancock among others); and Archie Russel who had
produced other Chicago-based artists including Gene Chandler, The Chi-Lites and
Betty Everett.
Making its worldwide CD debut with this expanded edition (with notes
from respected writer Lewis Dene which include quotes from Chuck Barksdale of
The Dells), ONE STEP CLOSER was a Top 50 R&B Album best-seller while the
first single from the set, ‘You Just Can’t Walk Away’ was a Top 30 U.S. R&B
hit.
