An 1 - Plastic Bertrand

An 1
Plastic Bertrand was the alias of new wave prankster Roger Jouret, a native of Belgium who appropriated the sound and style of the new wave movement in order to give it a gently satirical poke in the ribs, while scoring several European hits in the process.

Jouret began his musical career as a drummer for the Belgian punk trio Hubble Bubble, which recorded one unsuccessful album. When Jouret met producer / songwriter Lou Deprijck, the two struck up a recording partnership.

CA PLANE POUR MOI was their first single release from AN 1 and is widely regarded as a New Wave classic for its gleefully deranged stupidity, with Jouret singing French nonsense lyrics in a cartoonish voice over basic three-chord rock & roll complete with saxophones and a falsetto vocal hook straight out of the Beach Boys or Four Seasons. The song was a smash hit in Europe and became a cult favourite in America (#39 Billboard Hot 100) and peaked at #8 in the UK charts.

Plastic Bertrand continued to release records in Europe, including a U.K. top 40 hit remake of the Small Faces' SHA LA LA LA LEE.

Press:-

"By design or by dead-eyed accident, its absurd reductive approach acheives punk's stated intent of making all that went before sound convoluted, bloated and slow". Jim Wirth (Uncut - July 2012)

Radio Active
Upon its release in May '81, the Canadian guitar virtuoso's sixth studio album charged its way into the U.S. Top 40 and galvanized Pat Travers as a one of the few Rock artists with the ability to alchemically mix Hard Rock guitar histrionics with nagging hooks and instantly sing-able melodies. Criminally overlooked until now, this 'lost' classic album finally gains a long-overdue re-assessment and in so doing, gains a first-ever appearance on CD. Faithfully re-mastered with full audio approval from Pat Travers. Story of the album sleeve-notes by Classic Rock magazine News Editor, Dave Ling. Pat Travers continues to tour and play the U.K. for his faithful fan-base. Our Price: £9.95

Come My Way
Well, what can one say about Marianne Faithfull that hasn't been written a million times before? A true legend in British music, boasting a career that spans more than forty years that is showing no sign of slowing down yet. Over the course of a dozen or so albums and any number of hit singles she's consistently re-invented herself; from the teenage convent schoolgirl folk-pop of her early Decca recordings (penned by Jagger/Richards, Donovan, Tim Hardin, Jackie De Shannon, Bert Jansch et al) through the controversial years of "Sister Morphine", Girl On A Motorcycle and her well-publicised late '60s drug-induced breakdown to her rebirth in the late-'70s with the manifesto that is Broken English and subsequent acceptance into the pantheon of great rock and roll survivors. Not to mention the fact that she now sounds better than ever and puts on one hell of a good show! In a classic spin by her manager/mentor Andrew Loog Oldham, Faithfull's first two long players were released on the same day in April 1965. While Marianne Faithfull was full of the kind of fragile, baroque torch-pop with which she'd become successfully associated, it's the sister release Come My Way that was effectively a pure folk album with shades of children's songs and a sense of the avant garde. Magnificent! Our Price: £9.95
