New Horizon- Expanded Edition - Isaac Hayes

New Horizon- Expanded Edition
The 1977 release of New Horizon, the first of five albums for Polydor, was largely considered a return to form for Isaac Hayes. In addition to changing label, the soul legend brought his sound into the disco era with mixes by the legendary Tom Moulton.

The album features the funky and light-hearted Out Of The Ghetto, a track which not only returned Ike to the R&B singles chart but also showed his wry humorous side.

Also featured on the album is the slow-burning Don’t Take Your Love Away, in the classic Hayes ballad style. Swiftly recorded by Dionne Warwick, this became the template for their hit collaboration Déjà Vu two years later. In addition, the album features a disco update of the classic Stranger In Paradise which, together with Moonlight Lovin , made #16 on the Disco chart. The album reached #26 R&Band #78 Pop. BBR is proud to present NEW HORIZON in full expanded form, complete with extensive liner notes featuring an interview with Tom Moulton along with added bonus tracks.

Press:-

"The group's first, breakthrough set for Philly International, released in 1972, featuring and making a star of Teddy Pendergrass. It's the set that gave the world If You Don't Know Me By Now, of course: one of the most instantly recognisable intros of all time backed up by one of Teddy's signature vocals. It was pure deep soul as a pop hit - now that hasn't happened too often". 5*

Soul legend ISAAC HAYES released his third Polygram album DON’T LET GO in 1979, at the height of the Disco era. After his first two albums for the label had performed respectively, this time the title track gave him an out-and-out hit.

Originally a hit for ROY HAMILTON in 1957, DON’T LET GO returned Ike to both the R&B top 20 and the Pop top 20 in addition to reaching #3 on the Disco chart. A FEW MORE KISSES TO GO, another self-penned ballad, proved a modest R&B hit at the time but is still heard on Quiet Storm radio today.

In addition, the album features a Disco version (possibly the first ever) of the PEGGY LEE classic, FEVER. The album reached #9 R&B and #39 Pop and was certified Gold.
