Yarbrough & Peoples first set airwaves alight when their futuristic hit, Don’t Stop The Music shot to #1 on the R&B charts. Following the success of their first single they recorded numerous hit singles on Total Experience Records throughout the 80’s. Yarbrough & Peoples consisted of childhood friends Cavin Yarbrough and Alisa Peoples who met while going to the same piano teacher as children and attending the same local church in Dallas, Texas. Cavin Yarbrough started his career as a singer and keyboardist for a group called Grand Theft and one night while he was performing, the Wilson brothers, founders of The Gap Band, were in the audience and offered Cavin a job as a background vocalist on the Leon Russell tour that they were a part of. Soon after returning to Dallas, Alisa Peoples sang with Grand Theft and once again at a gig in Dallas, The Gap Band, signed to Total Experience Records by this point introduced them to label owner and producer, Lonnie Simmons. The Result of this introduction was to be four hit albums and numerous hit singles until the labels demise in the late 80s. BBR brings you Yarbrough & Peoples third offering on Total Experience Records, 1984s Be A Winner. Produced by Cavin Yarbrough with Jonah Ellis and Oliver Scott, BE A WINNER yielded another #1 R&B single for the group with Don’t Waste Your Time garnering the top spot in the spring of 84 and went on to become a popular dance hit getting to #11 on the Dance charts and by the summer the title track on the LP had gained a #20 R&B chart position.

Smooth Talk was Evelyn's 1977 debut RCA album. The album features the huge R&B and Disco hits Shame and I Don't Know If It's Right.

A Taste Of Honey

A TASTE OF HONEY was the debut album from the Disco-Funk group on Capitol Records in 1978 The album features the international Disco smash hit BOOGIE OOGIE OOGIE which is featured here in three different mixes.

Produced by Capitol Records' Funk, Soul and Jazz legends Fonce Mizell & Larry Mizell, the album made #2 on the R&B album chart and #6 on the US Pop album chart, achieving Platinum status in the process. Luxury Of Life : Expanded Edition
		The CD booklet includes comprehensive sleeve notes and a full UK singles discography featuring many of the original single sleeves. The Five Star story began in 1983 when the children of reggae musician. Buster Pearson decided to form their own pop group. Under their father’s watchful managerial eye, they signed to his own label Tent Records. Their debut album "Luxury Of Life" was released in August 1985 and peaked at #12 in the album charts.The band went on to enjoy extensive success and were crowned Top British Group at both the Brit and Smash Hits award ceremonies in 1987. In the 1980s the band recorded 21 hit singles, 11 of them top 20, and four original albums followed by a Greatest Hits album in 1989. Visions

Released on 22/02/10. For a time in the 1960s and 1970s, Gladys Knight & The Pips were clearly among the elite in the pop world, right up with the best groups of the era.

Gladys Knight was born in Atlanta, Georgia in 1944. In 1952 she won the Ted Mack Original Amateur Hour', a talent show on national television and by the age of nine she'd formed the first version of the Pips with her brother Bubba, plus cousins Their first hit happened in '61 with a cover of 'Every Beat Of My Heart' and in 1966, they switched from original label Vee-Jay to Motown and had a massive success with 'I Heard It Through The Grapevine', which became the fastest-selling single in Motown history up until that point.

Over the next several years, the group had a string of hits and awards behind them, before joining the Buddha roster, which led to the biggest hit of their career in 1973, namely 'Midnight Train To Georgia'.

Another label change in 1980 to Columbia, led in 1981 to the release of the album 'Touch' and to 'Visions' two years later which gave the group a number one r&b hit in America with 'Save The Overtime (For Me)'.

Her performances throughout this album are nothing short of stunning. Listen to the way she handles 'Hero', with a bravura aplomb that really does indicate that she had a grasp of bringing the gospel approach to soul, while never sacrificing her sensuality. And 'Heaven sent' is tailor made for her vocals.

Pennye- Expanded Edition
		PENNYE FORD was born Penny Ford in 1964 in Cincinnati, Ohio and is the daughter of Gene Redd Sr., the record company executive and former producer at King Records, famous for once having James Brown on their roster. She is also the sister of the late Sharron Redd and Gene Redd Jr. who was a songwriter for Kool & The Gang and BMP. In her youth Pennye studied various musical instruments and this led to her joining a group called Reach and toured extensively with them throughout Japan. On her return to the US, PENNYE FORD got a job at the Motown publishing company, Jobete Music and recorded a few demos of their catalogue. Later she worked on Total Experience Records where she had a short stint as a backing singer for The GAP Band. PENNYE FORD also features as the uncredited lead vocalist for the German electronic dance band Snap! on their 1990 #1 hit, The Power.In 1984 PENNYE FORD released her debut album entitled PENNYE. The album features the production of label owner Lonnie Simmons and contained two hits for Ford in the form of the up-tempo groove, CHANGE YOU WICKED WAYS, which reached #76 on the UK Singles chart and the popular Dance single DANGEROUS, that soared to #24 in the US Dance chart and a top 50 spot in the UK charts. Other notable tracks include the seriously funky slow jam DON’T YOU KNOW I LOVE YOU which is backed by a deep synth bassline that you cant help but love and the softer and more soulful, SERIOUS LOVE written and produced by Pennye herself.
