Esoteric Recordings are pleased to release the first album by the legendary jazz / rock / fusion outfit Tony Williams Lifetime. The group was founded by former Miles Davis drummer Tony Williams in 1969 out of his desire to fuse the influences of modern jazz and rock music. Recruiting legendary British guitarist John McLaughlin and organist Larry Young, Williams recorded the album Emergency!. It was a stunning and seminal work that divided critics in both jazz and rock but is now rightly regarded as being a groundbreaking work.

This Esoteric Recordings edition is newly re-mastered and restores the original album artwork and includes a new essay.

Big Brother Is Watching You : The CBS Recordings Anthology
 Esoteric Recordings are pleased to release a two CD anthology by legendary Ladbroke Grove underground act Skin Alley. Formed in 1969, Skin Alley were part of the infamous CLearwater stable that included fellow acts such as Hawkwind, High TIde and Trees. Skin alley’s infectious fusion of jazz and rock was suited to the time and the band became a regular attraction on the underground festival and concert circuit. Signing to cbs records in the autumn of 1969, the band recorded their debut album with producer dick taylor (former guitarist with the pretty things).Famous for its Policeman cover, the album featured excellent tracks such as Living In Sin, Tell Me, Country Aire & Night Time. Prior to the release of their second album skin alley recorded a soundtrack album for the film Stop Veruschka!About the infamous German model. A wonderful set of music & songs, the album was shelved in favour of a new set of recordings that was released as the album to Pagham & Beyond. This anthology includes all tracks from that second album, plus the entire unreleased Stop Veruschka! Soundtrack. Two Quid Deal
Esoteric Recordings are pleased to release a newly re-mastered edition of the third album by legendary Ladbroke Grove underground act Skin Alley, Two Quid Deal.Formed in 1969, Skin Alley were part of the infamous Clearwater stable that included fellow acts such as Hawkwind, High Tide and Trees. Skin Alley’s infectious fusion of jazz and rock was suited to the time and the band became a regular attraction on the underground festival and concert circuit.Signing to CBS records in the autumn of 1969, the band recorded two albums for the label and underwent a change to their line- up before departing cbs and appearing at the 1971 Glastonbury Fayre. Soon after the band signed to transatlantic records and recorded their third album at Rockfield studios with producer fritz fryer. Arguably their finest effort, two quid deal includes the classic sun music (recorded in a different version for the album Glastonbury Fayre ), Nick’s Seven, Skin Valley Serenarge & Graveyard Shuffle. A Story Ended – Expanded Edition
Released 29/06/09. Recorded in April 1972, 'A Story Ended' was the debut solo album by Colosseum saxophonist Dick Heckstall-Smith. Recorded upon the demise of Colosseum, the sessions featured contributions by Jon Hiseman, Mark Clarke, Chris Farlowe & Dave Greenslade Of The Band, along with Graham Bond (of whose organization Dick was a member alongside Jack Bruce & Ginger Baker), Chris Spedding and lyrical offerings from Pete Brown. A superb example of Jazz influenced Progressive rock, the album appeared on Bronze Records in 1972 and is now hailed as a classic of the genre. This Esoteric reissue features three live recordings as bonus tracks and two studio tracks by the band Manchild featuring Dick Heckstall-Smith, James Litherland, Dave Rose, Billy Smith and Theodore Thunder. Fat Mattress – Expanded Edition
Released 29/06/09. Recorded in 1969, 'Fat Mattress' was the eponymous debut album by the band formed by Jimi Hendrix Experience bass guitarist Noel Redding. Recorded in late 1968 / early 1969, the album evoked the influences of the time, touching upon styles pioneered by groups such as Traffic (whose member Chris Wood guested on the record). A superb piece of Psychedelic rock in its own right, 'Fat Mattress' failed to get the attention it deserved at the time of release (despite a tour as support act to the Hendrix Experience) but has subsequently been hailed as a classic of the era. This Esoteric reissue has eight bonus tracks comprising non-album singles, mono mixes, studio out-takes and an unreleased solo single by FAT MATTRESS' Jim Leverton. Our Price: £10.95

Seventy Second Brave
Keef Hartley came to prominence as a member of the British R&B group The Artwoods before joining John Mayall's Bluesbreakers in 1967. He contributed to the album 'Crusade' before leaving in 1968 to form the first line-up of his own band. He recorded a series of classic albums for Decca's Deram label. Esoteric Recordings are pleased to complete their reissuing of Keef's Deram catalogue with this newly remastered release of his 1972 album 'Seventy Second Brave'. Featuring the last incarnation of his band, Keef would record his final album for Deram the following year under his own name.
