A Curious Feeling (CD ONLY) - Tony Banks

A Curious Feeling (CD ONLY)
PLEASE NOTE THIS IS THE SINGLE CD VERSION OF 'A CURIOUS FEELING' THE DVD PACKAGE IS NOW SOLD OUT.

Esoteric Recordings are proud to announce the release of 30th Anniversary editions of the album “A Curious Feeling” by Genesis founder member and keyboard player Tony Banks on Monday October 19th 2009. This classic album, inspired by the novel “Flowers for Algernon” by Daniel Keyes, was first released in October 1979 by Charisma Records. Recorded at Polar Studios in Stockholm, whilst Genesis were on a brief hiatus following the “And Then There Were Three” tour, this majestic work featured contributions from drummer Chester Thompson (a member of GENESIS for concert appearances) and vocalist Kim Beacon. Stylistically the album is equal to anything Banks composed for Genesis and includes the evocative instrumental “The Waters of Lethe” and the song “For a While” (released as a single in 1979 and issued as a Download single via iTunes on October 19th) among its highlights. Significantly, this new edition of “A Curious Feeling” has been remixed from the original master tapes by Nick Davis (who also remixed the entire Genesis catalogue in 2007) and Tony Banks, resulting in a more dynamic sounding album. In addition, a new 5.1 Surround Sound mix was prepared which was included on a Limited 2 Disc Deluxe Edition of “A Curious Feeling”, along with the rare promotional videos of “For a While” and “The Waters of Lethe” made in 1979, this is now unavailable. A top thirty hit album upon its release, these editions of “A Curious Feeling” are the definitive statements on this classic album.

Egg
This now legendary debut album by Egg featured the talents of Dave Stewart on Keyboards, Mont Campbell on Bass and Clive Brooks on Drums. Egg were associated with the so-called 'Canterbury' style of rock music pioneered by artists such as Caravan and Soft Machine. The trio produced music of startling originality and energy, drawing on influences ranging from rock to jazz to psychedelia to classical. This fusion resulted in one of the most enduring releases to appear on Decca's short lived Nova imprint and is now critically regarded as one of the more unique albums of the early 1970's. Re-mastered from the original tapes, the Esoteric Recordings reissue includes three bonus tracks, including both sides of the bands only single and 'Movement 3' from the albums notorious opus 'Symphony No. 2', now restored in its rightful place in this extended composition. Take No Prisoners- Expanded Edition
For tens of thousands of his dedicated fans, David Byron remains THE voice of Uriah Heep. Born David John Garrick in Epping on 29th January 1947, Byron rose to prominence with Heep in the early Seventies, having previously served out an apprenticeship with Heep precursors the Stalkers as well as singing on sessions with such luminaries as Elton John. Byron presided vocally over all of UHs early triumphs, including landmark albums such as Salisbury, Look At Yourself, Demons & Wizards and Return To Fantasy. However, in 76 (after recording ten LPs with the band), Byron was sacked after a bout of internal feuding and was replaced by Lucifer's Friend vocalist, John Lawton. However, at the height of his power and popularity and whilst still a member of Uriah Heep, Byron recorded his debut solo album, Take No Prisoners during the Winter of 75. Contributions from individual Heep members, guitarist Mick Box, drummer Lee Kerslake and keyboardist/guitarist Ken Hensley all grace the albums original 10 tracks. For this long-overdue re-mastered edition three bonus tracks are featured including an edited version of the single, Steamin Along which makes for a welcome and worthy inclusion to the album.
