Apple
Before PEARL JAM and SOUNDGARDEN there was MOTHER LOVE BONE! Hailing from Seattle the name Mother Love Bone is now legendary amongst all rock fans. After the demise of one of Seattle's key rock groups - Green River, who were forerunners in the early grunge scene that was soon to explode out of Seattle, members Stone Gossard, Bruce Fairweather and Jeff Ament recruited Gary Gilmour and Andy Wood to complete the final line up of Mother Love Bone. With their initial release, the six track Shine EP causing a huge amount of interest the band's first album "Apple" quickly followed. Employing a 1970's rock sound on tracks such as "Stardog Champion" and "Holly Roller", guitar histrionics on "Come Bite the Apple" and a gentler groove on "Man of Golden Words". "Apple" gave the band a promising future! However, just as Apple was due for release in March 1990 Wood's tragic death from a heroin overdose caused the band to disband. Wood 's friend Chris Cornell from Soundgarden began work on a Temple of the Dog tribute project with members of Mother Love Bone and the unheard of Eddie Vedder, this was the beginning for Pearl Jam! This album has now been deleted for nearly 12 years! Containing the original album tracks and original artwork plus two rare bonus tracks, digitally remastered, this album will be Lemon Recordings first release and is a Rock Collector and Grunge fan must have.

Press: "From the kaleidoscopic This Is Shangri-La to the gentle Stargazer, the delicate Crown of Thorns and the scorching Holy Roller, Apple had something for everyone." - Sian Llewellyn, Classic Rock Magazine, October 2012

Nimbus, The Vertigo Years Anthology 2CD
2 CD ANTHOLOGY BY THE CLASSIC SCOTTISH PROGRESSIVE ROCK GROUP BEGGARS OPERA
18 TRACKS REMASTERED FROM THE ORIGINAL TAPES
DRAWN FROM THE BAND’S FOUR ALBUMS RECORDED FOR THE LEGENDARY VERTIGO LABEL BETWEEN 1970 & 1973
BOOKLET WITH FULLY RESTORED ARTWORK & ESSAY

Esoteric Recordings are pleased to announce a 2CD ANTHOLOGY by the classic Scottish Progressive Rock group BEGGARS OPERA. Drawing on material from the band’s first four albums, recorded for the legendary Vertigo label, "NIMBUS” features 27 of the band’s best tracks.
Formed in Glasgow in 1969 with a line-up of RICKY GARDINER (Guitar, Vocals), ALAN PARK (Keyboards), MARTIN GRIFFITHS (Vocals), MARSHALL ERSKINE (Bass, Flute) and RAYMOND WILSON (Drums), the band signed to the newly established progressive arm of Philips Records, Vertigo, in 1970. Their debut album, "ACT ONE” gained some success in Europe with tracks such as ‘Poet and Peasant’ and ‘Passacagalia’. A successful European hit single, ‘SARABANDE’, was followed by the album "WATERS OF CHANGE”, arguably their best and most successful album, and a line-up change that saw GORDON SELLAR replace MARSHALL ERSKINE on bass, and VIRGINIA SCOTT join the group on Mellotron. The record included the classic ‘Time Machine’, along with the memorable ‘Silver Peacock’ and ‘I’ve No Idea’.
"PATHFINDER” from 1972 was another classic album and featured a wonderful cover of Jim Webb’s ‘MacArthur Park’ along with ‘The Witch’ and ‘Hobo’. The band’s final album for Vertigo, 1973’s "GET YOUR DOG OFF ME” saw further line-up changes, but included a fine cover of Mason Williams’ ‘CLASSICAL GAS’ and saw further European success for the band.
This anthology is a fine tribute to an inspiring band and has been newly re-mastered from the original master tapes, and features a booklet with new essay.

Cactus / One Way… Or Another 2CD
Formed in 1969 by former members of Vanilla Fudge - Tim Bogert on bass and Carmine Appice on drums - Cactus released their self-titled debut on the Atco label in 1970. Although originally slated to feature Rod Stewart and Jeff Beck, the line-up would be cemented by Jim McCarty (from Mitch Ryder's Detroit Wheels and The Buddy Miles Express) on guitar and Rusty Day (from Ted Nugent’s original band, The Amboy Dukes) on vocals and harmonica; the line-up that would record the band’s first three LPs.
Among the originals on the first disc of this 2 CD set, are covers of Mose Allison's blues standard ‘Parchman Farm’ (also covered by proto-metal band Blue Cheer), plus Willie Dixon's ‘You Can't Judge a Book by the Cover’.
Releasing their second LP in 1971 (disc 2 of this set), "One Way...Or Another” was recorded at Jimi Hendrix’s Electric Lady Studios in New York, and also includes two classic covers in Little Richard's ‘Long Tall Sally’ and Chuck Willis' ‘Feel So Bad’.
With remastered audio, and four bonus tracks, this set features liner notes from Classic Rock’s Malcolm Dome based on recent interviews with founder member Carmine Appice. Cactus are currently touring with a line-up of Jim McCarty, Carmine Appice, Jimmy Kunes, Pete Bremy and Randy Pratt.

Restrictions / ’Ot ‘N’ Sweaty 2CD
Cactus were formed in 1969 by founder members of Vanilla Fudge; Tim Bogert on bass and Carmine Appice on drums. Although originally planned to feature Rod Stewart and Jeff Beck, Cactus’s line-up was eventually completed by Jim McCarty (from Mitch Ryder's Detroit Wheels and The Buddy Miles Express) on guitar and Rusty Day (from The Amboy Dukes) on vocals and harmonica.
Their bluesy, gritty rock became a big influence on future generations of hard rock and heavy metal bands, including Montrose, AC/DC, Van Halen and Monster Magnet.
Following "Restrictions”, the third and last LP to feature Jim McCarty and Rusty Day, they were joined for "’Ot ‘N’ Sweaty” by Leaf Hound and Atomic Rooster vocalist Pete French, Werner Fritzschings (guitar) and Duane Hitchings (keyboards). The first side of the original LP was recorded live in Puerto Rico at the Mar y Sol pop festival, and the second featuring studio recordings - the album ends with a somewhat incongruous cover of ‘Underneath The Arches’, inspired by touring with Rod Stewart & The Faces.
With remastered audio and one bonus track, this set features liner notes from Classic Rock’s Malcolm Dome based on recent interviews with Carmine Appice. Cactus are currently touring with a line-up featuring McCarty and Appice.
