Tasmanian Tiger EP (Strictly Limited Edition on CD & 7" Vinyl) - Marc Almond

Tasmanian Tiger EP (Strictly Limited Edition on CD & 7" Vinyl)

Marc Almond is back with a brand new 4-track EP, featuring a plethora of excellent ‘friends’ including Jarvis Cocker (Pulp) and Carl Barat (The Libertines, Dirty Pretty Things). Following the successful experience with double A single ‘Burn Bright/The Dancing Marquis’, legendaryproducer Tony Visconti (Bowie, T-Rex, The Moody Blues, Morrissey) is also back working alongside Marc.

Next to producer Tris Penna, Visconti lends a helping hand on string arrangements and mixing duties for the opening track, ‘Tasmanian Tiger’, and ‘Death of a Dandy’, the latter inspired by the recent death of Soho’s tragic artist Sebastian Horsley and featuring special guest Danielz from T-Rex tribute ‘T.Rextasy’. Jarvis Cocker brings to the mix an infectious electro-pop number he wrote for the occasion, ‘Worship Me Now’, where he also features on backing vocals and takes care of production with Jason Buckle (All Seeing I). Completing the excellent recording, ‘Love Is Not On Trial’ sees Almond continuing his collaboration with Carl Barat, his co-star in the 2012 opera ‘Poppea’ at Theatre du Chatelet in Paris. Produced again by Tris Penna, the song was written especially for Marc by Carl, who also features on guitar and vocals.

The eclectic 4 track EP is available on a strictly limited edition turquoise coloured 7" vinyl in a beautifully designed gatefold sleeve, complete with a CD of the same four songs.

English Boys – Working Girls
Released on 21/09/09. Deaf School were a late 1970s English band from Liverpool. Their style was somewhere in between pub rock, punk, glam rock and art rock. They disbanded after their third album. The journalist, author and founder of 'Mojo' Paul Du Noyer described them thus: " In the whole history of Liverpool music two bands matter most, one is The Beatles and the other is Deaf School. If that seems like a sweeping statement then consider this: after the pop revolution of the 1960s led by The Beatles and other Merseyside groups, it looked as if the city's music scene had dried up forever. But in 1975 there came a motley band of Liverpool art students called Deaf School. And they were the catalyst for the most dramatic revival since Lazarus. Their impact on the city is with us to this day." Their members carried on in music business; singer Bette Bright went solo, Clive Langer became one of the foremost producers of the '80s/'90s producing Madness, Morrissey, David Bowie, Dexy’sMidnight Runners and Bush amongst others. Steve Lindsey formed the hit band The Planets scoring a Top Of The Pops appearance with his song Lines . Enrico Cadillac (real name: Steve Allen) joined Ian Broudie (former member of Big In Japan) to form the Original Mirrors who released two albums. Allen later formed The Perils Of Plastic with former Attraction's keyboard player Steve Nieve before going onto a successful pan-European solo career, later taking on the management of Espiritu as well as an A&R post helming WEA UK's dance-pop imprint Eternal Records from 1993 to 2004. Live At The Hacienda
The first ever DVD to feature one of the classic 1980's pop bands - Blancmange.

Consisting of Neil Arthur (vocals, guitar) and Stephen Luscombe (keyboards), Blancmange formed in London, England, in the late '70s. The band received immediate recognition when they sent the song "Sad Day" to DJ Stevo, who added it to a compilation LP of then-unsigned new wave groups including future alternative icons like Depeche Mode and Soft Cell. Drummer Laurence Stevens was a member of the band for a short while, but they eventually replaced him with a drum machine.

Signed to London Records, Blancmange released their first two singles, "God's Kitchen" and "Feel Me," in 1982. Both records were hits in the U.K. Later that year, Blancmange's debut album, Happy Families, sold well on the strength of their first Top Ten hit, "Living on the Ceiling," which peaked at number seven in Britain. "Living on the Ceiling" was the beginning of a string of U.K. smashes; "Blind Vision" and "Don't Tell Me" both reached the Top Ten in England. Their cover of ABBA's "The Day Before You Came" was actually even more successful than the original, peaking at number 22. Blancmange's 1984 LP, Mange Tout, further established the group as one of Britain's most popular electronic artists.

"Live At The Hacienda" features a classic 1982 concert from the band at Manchester's world famous Hacienda Club. Amongst the tracks featured are UK chart hits "God's Kitchen / I've Seen The Word", "Living On The Ceiling", "Waves" and "Feel Me".

· ABC has its roots in the band Vice Versa, a Sheffield band formed in 1977 by Stephen Singleton and Mark White. They founded their own label, Neutron Records, releasing the EP Music 4. Fry accepted and by 1980 the band had evolved into ABC, with Fry becoming lead vocalist.

· The album was released in 1997, as a homage to lead singer Martin Fry's several musical heroes, including David Bowie, Roxy Music and The Sex Pistols.

· The line-up of ABC then consisting of Martin Fry, Glenn Gregory of Heaven 17 and Keith Lowndes, the album was met with positive reviews from critics rather than broad commercial success.

· This re-issue - done in conjunction with the band -contains liner notes by Daryl Easlea who talked extensively to the members of the band about the creation of the record.
