Firebeats, Inc: Expanded Edition - Firebeats, Inc

Firebeats, Inc: Expanded Edition
•    Norway’s Firebeats, Inc. issued one album in the Sixties. Yet their rough-edged music is now recognised as amongst the world’s greatest. As one of the world’s most collectible exponents of ‘freakbeat’, original copies of 1966’s Firebeats, Inc. album now sell for $1000.

•    This first-ever legal reissue of their fantastic album is a belated opportunity to revel in one of Norway’s greats – one of the world’s greats. Twenty years before a-ha put Norway on the musical map, Firebeats, Inc. tried their damndest to do so. With an in-house songwriting powerhouse Yngve Bjerke, they were built for success. Yet opportunities to be heard beyond Norway’s borders were limited. A rarity for the era, Firebeats, Inc. was all original compositions.

•    RPM International’s expanded edition of Firebeats, Inc. adds their non-album singles and an outtake from the album sessions – collecting their complete 1964-1968 recordings.

•    With liner notes by Norwegian music expert Jon Vidar Bergan, this is the final word on Firebeats. Inc.. Bergan is the editor and co-author Norsk Pop & Rock Leksikon, the definitive encyclopedia of Norwegian popular music.

•    This, RPM International’s initial journey to Norway, follows the label’s recent first Icelandic release: Poppsaga: Iceland’s Pop Scene 1972–1977. With Denmark, Finland and Sweden already covered, RPM International is the authoritative home for the greatest music from Scandinavia’s past.

•    This CD is released 21st April and will not be shipped prior to this date.

It's Alright With Me- Expanded Edition
With a career spanning more than 4 decades and numerous appearances in the charts and the music award circuit, Grammy Hall Of Fame inductee, Patti LaBelle sealed her fate as one of the great American Divas. Patti LaBelle started singing at church and later formed a singing group called Patti Labelle and the Bluebelles, later know as LaBelle. Patti and her group enjoyed many chart hits during their 15 years together including their number one, gold selling single Lady Marmalade.

In 1979 Patti LaBelle released her 3rd solo effort for Epic Records. It’s Alright With Me enlisted the production and writing genius of Grammy Award Winner, Skip Scarborough. The album had a long run of chart success and reached #33 on the US R&B charts along with the albums title song scoring a top 40 R&B position. The R&B/disco stomper Music Is My Way Of Life soon became an ultimate disco classic. BBR is proud to present this wonderfully repackaged and newly remastered expanded edition of Patti LaBelle’s, It’s Alright With Me complete with extensive liner notes with interviews and added bonus tracks.

It's Been a Long Long Time
·       Not only were The Hep Stars Sweden’s biggest band in the Sixties, they were where Benny Andersson first tasted success before achieving world-wide fame with ABBA. Without The Hep Stars, there would have been no ABBA.
·       It's Been A Long Long Time was The Hep Stars’ fourth album, released in February 1968 and not issued outside Sweden. It was their only album for the Cupol label and RPM International adds the only non-album single the band issued on the label. RPM International’s reissue is the first time the album has been released in Europe outside Sweden.
·       The sought-after and rare It's Been A Long Long Time is a classic, harmony filled sunshine pop album. It was recorded in London in 1967 with producer Steve Clark, the associate of legendary American songwriter and singer Curt Boettcher. With Clark, The Hep Stars were the first to record Boettcher’s songs "Another Time” and "Would You Like To Go”, later released in America by Sagittarius. Other songs on It's Been A Long Long Time had been recorded in America by The Association and The Ballroom.
·       A missing link in the story of ABBA, The Hep Stars’ It's Been A Long Long Time would be a legendary album even if the band didn’t feature Benny Andersson.

Hello Everyone - Popsike Sparks From Denmark Street 1968-70
•    Between 1968 and 1970, some of the finest, most obscure British psychedelic pop singles of the era escaped on the Spark label, the newly-inaugurated recording arm of long-established publishers Southern Music.

•    Recorded in the basement studio of the company’s Denmark Street premises, these tracks often featured the same cabal of musicians and songwriters, leading to a homogenous in-house style that perfectly encapsulates the late 1960s British pop-psych studio sound.

•    The best of Spark’s impressive roster is now collected on CD for the first time on Hello Everyone: Popsike Sparks from Denmark Street 1968-70, which assembles highly-prized, highly-priced 45s from pre-Rare Bird band Fruit Machine, Gene Latter, post-Sorrows outfit the Eggy, the New Generation (subsequently to become the Sutherland Brothers), the Dennis Wheatley-inspired Icarus and both sides of the magnificent and astonishingly rare single by Sir Ching I (only one stock copy known to exist).  Also included are exquisite Brit popsike singles from Timothy Blue, Just William, both sides of the superb John Carter/Russ Alquist collaboration ‘The Laughing Man’/‘Midsummer Dreaming’ and two sensational offerings from Eartha Kitt during her brief and unlikely immersion in late Sixties hippy chick chic.

•    Crammed with vintage three-minute pop tunes, and with a lavish 16-page booklet that features rare photos, quotes and the full story behind the label, Hello Everyone is simply an essential purchase for admirers of the British psychedelic pop genre.
