Vixen: Expanded Edition - Gloria Jones

Vixen: Expanded Edition
· GLORIA JONES might be most famous for recording the original version of ‘Tainted Love’, the Northern Soul classic popularised by Soft Cell.
· Having recorded for several different labels, culminating in a spell with Motown, GLORIA became romantically involved with MARC BOLAN and worked with T. REX as a backing singer.
· Their relationship led to the highly coveted LP VIXEN, issued on T. REX’s label through EMI in 1976, which has long been out-of-print.
· MARC co-produced the album as well as writing or co-writing most of the songs. GLORIA re-recorded ‘Tainted Love’. Another highlight is her two-part rendering of the T.REX classic ‘Get It On’.
· This reissue also adds bonus tracks. A single b-side from the 1976 sessions plus GLORIA’s next LP, WINDSTORM, issued on EMI’s Sidewalk subsidiary in 1978. (released in the wake of MARC’s tragic death in 1977 which had led GLORIA and their son to return to LA).
· Remastered from the original tapes.

The Three Degrees-Expanded Edition
The Three Degrees' Philadelphia International Records debut made quite an impact upon it's release in 1974.

Having been R&B hit makers for years, the group were no strangers to the American Soul Chart but the pairing of the group with Philadelphia's Gamble & Huff took them to an iconic level of appreciation. The top 20 album spawned the now classic UK #1 When Will I See You Again and the top 20 hit Year Of Decision. Also featured was their Philly debut single Dirty Ol' Man which topped the charts in the Netherlands, staving off the threat of Demis Roussos in the process!

She released her first single "Rainbow ‘71” on the fledgling Apache label before moving to Aware to record her first two albums prior to her work with Salsoul.

I've Got The Cure
By 1984, powerhouse vocalist Stephanie Mills had achieved consistent hit-making status in the U.S. thanks to nine albums and a slew of hit singles that had established the former Broadway star of ‘The Wiz’ as a potent and dynamic recording artist and live performer.
Released in September 1984, I’VE GOT THE CURE, Stephanie’s third (and final) album for Casablanca Records became a best-seller thanks to now-classic soul and dance smash and club favourite, ‘The Medicine Song’ which became a Top 30 UK hit and a Top 10 US R&B hit.
Produced by master musician and funk meister George Duke with additional production by David ‘Hawk’ Wolinski (formerly of the group Rufus), I’VE GOT THE CURE fused the techno-funk rhythms of the day with Stephanie’s high-energy vocals.
This SoulMusic Records’ expanded edition includes three bonus tracks including a six-minute-plus Mark Berry 12” mix of ‘The Medicine Song.’ Other standouts on the album (a Top 10 R&B album in the US) include ‘Edge Of The Razor,’ ‘Rough Trade’ and the highlight ballads ‘Give It Half A Chance’ and ‘Everlasting Love.’
