A Groovy Kind Of Love : The complete LPs and Singles 1966-1968
At last all in one place, here are the full recordings of the 60’s Manchester brit-popsters. The Mindbenders as fronted by Eric Stewart following the departure from the band of Wayne Fontana. Comprising 2 LPs, 6 EPs, 10 singles. Includes the big hits A Groovy Kind of Love , Can’t Live With You , Ashes to Ashes, The Letter.

Plus the opportunity to hear their own well crafted heavier b-sides, and their totally in tune with the times tracks using wah-wah, phasing, off-beat drumming, lilting background vocals, and psychedelic sitar like solos. Includes tracks reissued for the first time on CD. Includes the sessions arranged by John Paul Jones.

Presents fascinating early collaborations between future 10CC-ers Eric Stewart and Graham Gouldman as the latter chipped in with song writing and production assistance during 1967. Stewart even began the foundations of Strawberry Studios as The Mindbenders entered their final phase.

Popsaga: Iceland's Pop Scene 1972-1977
•    For the first-time ever, beyond its rocky shores, Poppsaga reveals the music the Sugarcubes generation grew up with. This is the story of Iceland’s pop scene before the outside world discovered its unique twist on music.

•    From the pure, Beatle-esque pop of Pelican to the glam-rock of Change, from the disco-influenced Poker to the yearning intimacy of Jóhann G. Jóhannssonn, Poppsaga collects music which would have entranced the world if the dice had rolled differently.

•    In the 70s, Iceland wanted to be heard by the outside world: Pelican recorded in and toured America; Change recorded in London and had a British release; Jóhann G. Jóhannsson recorded at London’s legendary Olympic Studios with Madeline Bell and ex-Jeff Beck drummer Micky Waller. Finally, these Icelandic artists are receiving the exposure they deserved.

•    Poppsaga includes special liner notes by Icelandic music expert and host of the country’s television pop quiz Dr. Gunni – Gunnar Lárus Hjálmarsson – also the author of Stuð Vors lands, the definitive history of Iceland's music which, as Blue Eyed Pop, became the first book in English on the subject.

Iceland's Prog-Pop Pioneers: An Anthology
•    A decade before the Sugarcubes took on the world, two before Sigur Rós made waves and four before Of Monsters and Men conquered America, Iceland’s Pelican blazed the trail for all that followed for their fellow country folk.

•    Pelican recorded in and played America in 1974 and 1975, and issued two albums. Iceland’s Prog-Pop Pioneers: The Anthology collects their complete recordings for the first time and pays tribute to this important band in the history of Icelandic music. The release follows RPM International’s collection of Seventies Icelandic pop, Poppsaga (Retro 943), where Pelican were a highlight.

•    Pelican’s distinctive music married Beatle-esque pop to a progressive rock and was always melodic, always moody.

•    Jenny Darling was irresistible upbeat pop; the atmospheric Golden Promises evoked open spaces and epic landscapes. These feature on Disc One on the first album  Uppteknir , Pelican instantly became Iceland's biggest band.

•    On Disc Two the second album Litil Fluga, they brought a taste of American roots rock to Iceland but still sounded exotic, elemental. Pelican never lost their Icelandic flavour.

•    The story is told beyond Iceland for the first time by Icelandic music expert and host of the country’s television pop quiz Dr. Gunni – Gunnar Lárus Hjálmarsson – also the author of Stuð Vors lands, the definitive history of Iceland's music which, as Blue Eyed Pop, became the first book in English on the subject.

•    With Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden covered, RPM International is the authoritative home for the greatest music from Scandinavia’s past.

Please Note: This title is released November 17 and will not be dispatched before this date.
